225/40/18 on NM RSe12

Does anyone know if you need spacers to fit 225/40/18 on the NM RSe12 wheels?

Thanks

I dont believe so. Considering NM Engineering does mostly MINI work, then they should work fine. What is the actual size of the wheels? 18in by what width? Also keep in mind about the offset too. But like I said they should work. Also are you on any coilovers or lowering modification?

I have the NM Springs on there as well - they lowered the car moderately.

Wheel dimensions:
Size: 18x7.5
Offset: +45 mm
PCD: 4-100mm
Bore: 56.1m

I am going to ask NM for advice as well

Heres a link to people who are running them. I am pretty positive they will work considering your on sport springs. Once you get into coilovers its a whole other ball game. Good luck! Keep us posted!

Thanks - I know the wheel will fit - it's the tire size I am not sure about.

Either

225/40/18

or

225/35/18

In that link that I posted it said someone is running them with a 40 tread. Also keep in mind the lower the number you go on tread the rougher the ride. Id go with a 40 if I were you.

Totally agree on 40 vs 35.

States the 225's should be at 35 though...

I see, call and ask them what you should do. Thats the best bet, not saying I can't help, but still considering they are always working with those wheels then they'd know best. Because the issue here is considering your dropped just a little bit then if you get a thicker tire with a wide width then you might need spacers due to them rubbing on the spring. I almost had that with the wheels that are in my signature down below. I was running 17in wheels but they were 215/45/17. I almost had an issue due to me being dropped so much but the offset helped me to clear the coilovers. Thus me looking into a new set of wheels 2 weeks ago. I'm sure you have your mind set on those wheels but you can always look around if they don't work for a set on the VWVortex forum or somewhere like that. Heres a pic of how mine is running.

I love the NM wheels - they fit the car no problem, so not changing my mind on that one. Will let you know what the NM guys tell me...!

The tires in the picture are 205/40/17 I believe.

Found a site that shows size differences:

If I do a rough measurement of the distance between the top of my 205/40/18 tire and wheel arch (the plastic fender) it reads about 25mm. Increasing the diameter of the tire with 16 mm would decrease the distance with half of that (25mm minus 8mm) to approx 17mm. I would think that could work.

Please challenge my logic!

Which tires did you end up going with? 225/40's? If so how do they fit and which tires are you using?
I am getting the same wheels and was hoping that I could go with 225/40/18's rather than 215/40/18's... for better tires selection.
Thanks!
