Clutch pedal issue ?

I have an 07 with only 57K miles. The clutch itself seems fine, no slipping or smell, or issues. The clutch pedal though, for lack of a better word has a shudder at 3/4 of travel. Like it's rubbing on something and wants to squeak but no noise.
Engagement is fine. Sometimes it will stop doing it for a few minutes, then do it again for a few minutes, then stop again... Very strange... I thought the pedal itself was rubbing on something so I peeked under but my neck is not triple jointed, and I don't see anything obvious to shoot grease at...

Do you guys think it's a greasing issue or something more nefarious, like a throw out bearing dying ? I do notice also that the box chatters at idle. The noise goes away if I press the clutch in. Figured that was a noisy flywheel and it's always done that to a degree... The pedal thing is new. Like it's rubbing on something...

I suspect I should do a clutch job soon - but at dealer prices it's a joke. At independent prices, maybe, but I was toying with trading it in for a coupe, and the trade is was pathetic. Sounds less pathetic if I figure a $1500 clutch coming soon..

For the pedal, check the bushing, they can pop out or wear down and have some play.
Both side , check to make sure its in and no play. Little bit of grease on those also.

Clutch here:

Clutch job if you have the rattle, thats usually the throw out bearing.

Throw out bearing and Clutch options. 52151203

If you have a "crunchy" feel in the pedal it is due to the clutch. They all start to get a stiff crunchy feel at some point, then you go to a Valeo single mass flywheel and it goes away.

It is a bother to go from my car that has a great feeling pedal to my GFs car that is still on the stock clutch. Makes me appreciate the little things.

That's where we come to help! We have a clutch DIY article that can help you do the replacement if you feel up to it and have the right tools or have a friend with them that can help you out. We have some clutch super kits and normal kits HERE. The nice thing about the super kits is that they include everything you should replace while you have it apart. If you're going to go through the time and effort to do it all, you might as well make sure that you are replacing and fixing every piece that might need attention, while you have access to it. At that link, if you click the tech info tab at the top it will take you to the article under Transmission & Axles. Good luck!

I fixed it... i bought another car ;-)

The mini dealer was asking $3400 for a new clutch. Independent about $2000 with flywheel..
Coupled with that, my top constantly saturates with water (despite 2 repellant treatments), and the radio struggled to get one station... I traded it in for a 2012 Cooper S hardtop. 2 sunroofs. The only annoying thing Is that I did brakes and shocks in the past 4 months. Could have saved a bunch not doing that, oh well... I'll miss the supercharged whine and immediacy, the turbo's response is more laggy, but it's a nicer car overall.
