Well.......Drumroll......we finalized our spec today - should be input tomorrow.

We stayed with the 16's ..but...getting strident input from friends that the 17's look so much better...and they would not cost more if I spec'd the Sport Pack instead of the 3 items Ala Carte...Xenon/Fogs/DSC..still .open to suggestions...

If you've been following my whining posts as we led up to this spec...you'll notice that I did not spec leather.
We're going to have leather installed after-market.


Open to comments on this spec...

Now the wait really begins...probably a late October / early November delivery.

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions...could not do it - would not want to have to do it ...without all of you!!

Your MINI looks great I've seen your posts on MINI2 & I've felt your agony
I tried to add the cold weather package but was told the"window was closed". Guess my buns will be cold when I drive "top down in the snow". Hopefully our Cabrios will close their tops when needed & we won't get any wear spots

SNOW !?!? I have the heated seats for when it drops into the 60's out here at the beach ! I, too, have been following those top problem posts over at Mini2. This was the risk we took in pre-ordering a new convertible, but I need the drop top. We'll just have to stay until they sort the mess out. Hopefully that will be before the snow flies !

Peter: the 16 v. 17 debate is a long one. I went 17's because I really like the 17" Bullet rims. The run flats are supposedly the real culprit for the rougher ride so I will switch those out after I wear them out. The hardcores would say all Mini rims are way too heavy and to go stock and then switch them out immediately. My wallet finally bites me on that point. Aftermarket leather sounds risky or expensive to do it right, although I have no actual experience there.

I checked into it before placing our spec.
I've seen samples of the material and like it way more than factory...I've also seen a bit of the work the shop does. They've apparently done MINI's - they buy the upholstery pre-assembled from a manufacturer in California as that's how it must be since it requires certified stitching due to the airbags. The stitching will follow the factory style.

The 2005 kits will be ready in about 6 months...wide range of colors - we're thinking bone white...$1,100 for front and rear seats installed.

Forgot to comment on this...the Convertibles do not carry a spare tire...thus I believe that we're tied to the run-flats.

So now what....Now the initial fun is over...the car is spec'd and locked in...Production number is 7507XXX ... apparently the build is first week of October...week 40?...

So now what? I can only stand here jumping from one foot to the other for so long.

<sigh>

I guess I'll have to build a mock-up in the garage and sit there making motor noises and pretending to shift :~)
