R56 N18 MCS Mods

Hi guys - have been browsing this forum for ages and certainly have used it to my advantage. I have a 2013 R56 MCS. Just installed NM Springs with H Sport control arm together with the black NM RSe12 wheels.

I have a Helix Gen 2 FMIC and an OEM JCW muffler (end piece only - I don't want to throw any check engine lights and want to keep the sound "civil") waiting to be installed in a few weeks (when I have time..).

Planning on adding an ECU tune - either NM stage 2 or Manic. Also contemplating a Forge Blow Off Valve & JCW Intake.

Any opinions on the above mods? Anything you'd add or do different?

Thanks

Keep in mind that for stage 2 one either NM or Manic you need a FMIC, CAI, and a full exhaust with either a high flow catted or catless downpipe. Stage 1 can be run bone stock.

I prefer Manic because as far as I know you can only get the NM tune by sending NM your ECU, meaning not having a car for a few days while the ECU is out of the car. A few shops do the Manic tune as it is basically a Revo tune that uses Revo hardware. Check out Manic's website for a installer near you and get a quote.

A BOV is kind of pointless imo because it won't help boost pressure any and if you get a cold air intake you will get the BOV noise from the stock recirculating valve.

Thanks - I live around the corner from NM so I can drive there and have them do it on site.

The Helix FMIC is already going on - do you have any suggestions for a high flow catted pipe that works with the JCW end piece?

I have read conflicting opinions on the CAI, but take your word for it

Honestly the only "true cold air" intake for the R56 is the AEM one. I have the NM one myself but nothing will be true "cold air" considering the intake is at the back of the engine bay. So up to you what to make of that one. The NM one gives you a ton of turbo noise though. I often get asked if I have an HKS blow off or something along those lines.

High flow catted DPs are kind of a waste imo. You'll still get a CEL (stage 2 tune aside) more than likely unless you do O2 spacers and even at that you have to be lucky, and at that point you're way better off with a catless because even high flow catted DPs restrict flow a bit compared to catted. I've seen one of the vendors one here post about comparing catless to high flow catted and they said the only real gains they saw were with catless. Plus catted is far more expensive.

You pretty much have your pick of the litter with DPs. One of the guys on here makes them, WMW has one, Milltek, the list goes on.

I make and sell DP's the fit perfect and come in bare finish or 2300F Ceramic Coating and both have built in bungs and that won't trigger a CEL. Lots of trial and error to get the Mini Frequency just right.
Thanks
Mario

Couldn't remember your name, sorry. Yeah, OP, Mario's DPs are very good from what I've heard around here.
