R56S Low Engine Power, No CEL

I've been having an odd issue with my '08 R56S w/45k Miles. On about 3 occasions when I've started to drive off on a cold engine I've noticed a serious lack of engine power.

The first time it happened I almost stalled the car just backing out of my parking space. When I got on the road to drive off I noticed the engine seemed almost bogged down. The best way I can describe the experience would be like driving 20mph while in 5th or 6th gear. I'd floor the gas and the rpm would barely increase. I have only a short commute to work, about 5 miles. It seems by the time I get home or to work the issue has gone away, I'm assuming because the engine has warmed up.

I've replaced the stock diverter valve with the one from WMW. It seemed the issue went away for about 2 months but then it came back again last night. I've had no other mechanical problems.

Any ideas? Thanks

Is your clutch slipping? I experienced similar problem and it ended up to be my clutch. Basically the car wasn't accelerating.

I don't think the clutch is slipping, I could be wrong though. Basically it was like the engine did not want to rev up even wot. Plus the issue goes away after the engine warms up.

Could be a number of things. Have you tried doing a scan to pull up any codes? I had a similar issue few weeks ago where the car felt it was bogged down and no CEL. Its a 11' R56S with about 45K miles. I swapped the plugs, oil change and cleaned the MAF since I have a drop in K&N filter. Car feels alive and peppy again.

Different engine, I know, but on my 2011 N18, she NEVER has power until she runs for a bit. I start her, then go brush my teeth, kiss the wife goodbye, then off on my journey. Seats are warmed, turbo is ON! Turbo engines are kinda funny, needing heat-up time and cool-down time. Part of the quirkiness, I guess. Not meant for everyone. Thus the JOY of owning a MINI! Motor-on!

It would only slip when it revs and doesn't go anywhere

Had this issue 2 days straight this autumn. After 2 days I floored the gas and the car went into limp mode.

Bring the car to the dealership and had a major oil leak in the turbo. They rebuilt it and passed 14 hours on it Wtf!

Car runs nice after it.

2009 JCW btw
