Engine shutdown

Engine was running. Downshifted and started to slow, temp gauge came on to full hot engine shut down. Any ideas where to look?

Check that your coolant reservoir isn't leaking. Then check that your power steering fan is working. The electrics are on the same circuit.

Power steering fan motor (under the engine) failure causes your engine to overheat.

MINI has extended the warranty on the motor to 10 (or was that 12?) years. So check with the dealer to see if it had been replaced.
