Hello. I have a 2009 5-speed automatic mini cooper. The other day when stopped at a red light, my car stalled. I shifted to park, started it back up and went on my way. It did it a second time a little later the same day, also when stopped at a red light. No alarm lights are on, and it seems to be running fine otherwise. It has not done it in a few days now. Thoughts?

 

Hm, could be a number of things. This person here had an issue with their MINI stalling out at idle, but would be a bit rought afterwards. Was a leaking water pump, which caused the system to have loss of pressure. This person here had a few more symptoms, but somewhat similar and ended up being because it was low on oil. Not saying these are your issues, but maybe first check the basics, your air filter, oil level, check for any leaks, maybe do a smoke test/pressure test to make sure there are no leaks in the system.

 

Codes? If you don't have an obd2 reader, many auto parts stores will read the codes for free. That might give you some clues.

 

I was going to say your car came with start/stop technology.

But my car had that issue when the fuel pump was starting to fail.
