Have an '08. Pressure is good and equal on all tires. I reset the TPMS, the light goes out (after driving a short distance) only to come back on shortly after that. Any ideas or suggestions?
On my 2008 MINI Cooper S I had a lot of issues with the tire pressure monitoring. My suggestion: If the tire pressure is correct...ignore it for a day or two and see if it goes away.

forgive my ignorance as its my wifes daily driver, not mine. i dont recall it telling me which tire it senses as low. only recalling the two lights (on tach and speedo) indicating an issue. am i forgetting something on how to see which tire it is?

Could be the sender(s) in the tire filler stem(s).
I had the same issue once and very first thing I did was to reset it. When the TPM light came back on, using the OBD diagnostics and it threw a code of CC ID 14X (sorry I forgot - 149?). Took it to my tire guy and one of the sensors was malfunction and had to replace it. Luckily I usually carry spares in the car so it turned out to be painless.
On my 2012, a little top-down view of the car comes up in the tach, and an arrow points to the corner of the car that is detected as low. Not sure if a 2008 would do the same, though.

It does that on the '08s also with an arrow pointed to the wheel/tire that has "issues." First time that I had one was when the temperature dropped to single digits and the car was parked outside all night while visiting a friend.
I had an intermittent issue on my 08, initially just when it was cold on my winter tires. When I would put on the summer wheels, the warnings would go away. Then it went to the warning full time and was not able to be reset. It turned out that one of the receivers was bad (I took it to the dealer to figure out which one). Each corner of the car has a receiver.
update: Now the TPMS says inactive in the tach and the symbol in the speedo is yellow. Clearly i have one (or more) of the individual tire monitors out most likely a battery issue. My question now is that while others in the thread have said an '08 shows which tire is faulting, i cannot figure out where/how. When i cycle through the check/info it doesnt show specific tires, only tpms in general...
That is what my car did, a steady 'inactive' note and yellow light, and it would not allow itself to be reset. I couldn't find a way to figure out what sensor was bad. I had to go to the dealer, and it was one of the receivers on the car (not in the wheel). Not sure if an indy mechanic can give you that info, or if it is dealer only.
The dealership can read the sensor in the wheels and the receivers in the car. Most of the time its the TPMS senors themselves.
Also there is a split year in 9/2009 for the sensor and receiver in gen 2 MINI. So keep that in mind when replacing them. 36236798726 KT & 36106856227 KT
The tire center at Costco discovered one of my sensors being at fault. That said, they have a way of testing it and labeled my invoice as a flat tire service at no charge (comes with the purchase of lifetime everything)... and replaced it with a spare that I carry in the glove box just in case something similar to this happens.
I considered going over to Costco but since I dont have a spare TPMS and I didnt buy the tires there, I wasnt sure if they would even touch it
I suggest to take it to the place where you had your tires purchased, mounted and balance. It can be treated as a flat tire repair since most places offer lifetime everything to be competitive.

Best of luck!
1 hour in and out at the tire shop. Driver side rear was dead. They have a scanner that tells them which sensor isnt responding. thanks all
