My mini isnt washed very often due to traveling ect. The 2 rear wheels both have so much bake dust baked on to them it wont come off. Looks like rust but i dont think so(No pics at the moment) They are the stock cooper wheels and what can i do to clean them or should i just dump them and get a new set off tirerack? If so what size is nice at stock ride height. Thanks Badge from SC

depends on the wheels you have, a cheap option is to get some brand (sonax....etc) wheel cleaner, actual wheel cleaner. This is meant to remove brake dust from wheels. works very well. if you have the 17 inch slites, i would go for new wheels, only because when you get a different wheel you can loose like 8lbs per wheel rotating mass, feels likea new car

Well, why get new wheels? All that will happen is that they too will accumulate brake dust due to infrequent washing an neglect.

I say, keep what you got if you intend on doing what you are doing.

What kind of cleaner did you try? Sonax works by chemically reacting with the iron in the brake dust and breaking it down. Spray on your wheel, let soak and it will go from neon green to dark purple as it reacts. It's the only cleaner I've used so far that actually does what it says and hasn't damaged my wheels. Look for videos on YouTube to see how it works.

New wheels are nice if you're tired of your stock wheels and/or they're S-Lites. If you go with tires too, Tire Rack will mount and balance them for free and you'll just have to bolt them on when you get them.

Another option is to get them blasted and powder coated if you don't want to spend the money on new wheels.
