The AZ CarMax most likely did not buy it. Cars they purchase all go to a centralized location for evaluation, with many going to auction.

Definitely take advantage of the CarMax 5 day return policy and get a PPI done.

I test drove a bunch of cars from CarMax when looking at convertibles and all of them had some rather serious issues CarMax was not acknowledging. A Z4-M with a terrible transmission, a Boxster missing half it's power, a Miata with suspension issues.

That said the wife's Audi A4 has worked out a treat (after a bad X3 and A6).

You might find the previous owner on the CarFax report (not the copy from the dealer) and if your local MINI dealer obliges you can get it from their records (MINI is not supposed to do this).

The car records show that it was in AZ since delivery - 1 owner. I've actually had pretty good luck with carmax - albiet my other cars weren't really sporty. That being said, I've already made plans to take a trip to the dealer to have them check it out! Do you think Carmax would have an issue with me hooking up an obd reader?

 

How many miles are on the car?

 

Looks pretty good. If you ask, I don't see why they'd be against you plugging in, but I could be wrong. Doesn't hurt to ask.

 

About 35K miles on it.

 

I assume it's a LOTSC. What # is it? You might be able to check on the LOTSC thread to see if the previous owner had posted there.

 

Unfortunately it isn't a LOTSC! Fortunately it is still hella fun to drive!
