heated vs. non-heated mirror

I am trying to find a replacement for a side mirror. I have found several on Ebay, but when I ask if it is heated or not, some sellers don't know. How can I tell if the mirror they have is heated or not?

Yes , pop out the old mirror , if you have heated you will see two wires towards the outside.

Or you can start your MINI up and touch the glass with you hand the mirror should get slightly warmer.

See our video and parts you will see the heater element plugs: they come also on our euro blind spot mirrors. Its linked on the product.

Thanks

Someone asked that question in this NAM thread here. If they're not sure about the weathr package I'd ask them or look to see if the mirrors have two black wires that attach to two connectors on the back of the mirror. Good luck.

"Most heated mirrors (AFAIK) came in the cold weather package (CWP) with heated seats and wiper jets. So if you have heated seats, you probably have heated mirrors."

Well, that makes sense!

For future reference, the guy that is doing body work to my MINI right now says the rectangle shaped plug where it contacts the car should have five pins if it's heated (three if not). Some of the ones on Ebay are still attached to a car making this a difficult search. Asking if they have heated seats should help.

Glad that will be able to narrow your search.

Yep, unless you did not get the CWP and then bought the heated seats retrofit kit. Which will then turning the glass mirror all the way inward poke a mirror in there and check for the two wires.

Different part numbers.
If there's a sticker with the MINI number on it this page
(or one like it for a different model or year) might help:
