Track Shipping to Port Hueneme

Since it seems that BMW no longer ships from Southampton to Port Hueneme on WW, we cannot use the WW tracking system to locate the when's and where's of our Mini's trip across the pond, and through the canal.

I thought it time to provide a location for all of those west coast prospective Mini owners to post info and updates for if and when we find a way to track our cars.

My VIN does not show up in the WW auto roll - some of the July production group posts seem to indicate that for a period WW was giving the names of vessels that Minis were booked on, even though they were not WW vessels. I don't think that is happening anymore.

I intend to phone K-Line to see if I can find info on Mini tracking:
"K" Line or our services, please call:
Richmond National Operations
Service Center
1(800) 609-3221

and I have sent an email to NYK to see if we can get info there.

If anyone has any luck, and finds out anything abou these alternate shippers - please post here!

FYI - my Mini is scheduled to be complete on 8/11... so anxiously looking for a way to track shipping.

Here's what I've found so far:

Kline can only track by booking number of "BL" number...

NYK line has a couple information numbers, but I'm Alaska and my cell calls keep getting dropped... if someone wants to follow up...
The 888-695-7447 option3 number told me that I need to speak with bulk shipping in Torrence, CA.
The Torrence facility takes me to voice mail, so I called the Long Beach number - but can't stay connected long enough to find out what's happening.
Los Angeles
NYK LINE (North America) INC. WESTERN REGION Los Angeles Office

Torrance, CA 90501
Phone (310)618-6070
Fax: (310) 618-2033

Los Angeles / Long Beach
Barwil Agencies (NA) Inc.

Phone: 1-562-436-5032 (24 hr)
Fax: 1-562-435-0356 / 1-562-463-3833

If someone else has time to check this phone number.... please post your input.

Also - email to nykline got bounced!

FYI - called ASKMINI and asked if there was a way to find out which vessel you are booked on. They say that they can only tell once you are on one. Seems that they put all the cars at the dock, and load you on the next available vessel.... also sounds like they are using more than one line.

Let me know if this thread is helpful.....

I got the following information from my MA and it worked great:

"NYK Shipping is handling the transport and they don't report their
whereabouts, so unfortunately people can't track it. If anyone wants to
get more info out of NYK, their number for the Los Angeles office is
310-618-6073.

One of my customers found this number, called, and got the ship name,
and the call sign for it."
Then I used the following site to track my ship:

And the last ship to land, Hojin (NYK) arrived at 0600 yesterday. Rejoice! Jimbo

Is there any additional information about this? Is there a website to track instead of bombarding NYK's customer service to get ships name and call sign?

Any additional information would be great.

The NYK website requires passwords for access to information like schedules, etc. From what I gather a boat for PH leaves SH every 10 days or so. According to a MINI owner in SF, one docked yesterday, 2 weeks after the Hojin (the boat that carried my MCS) docked on 9/17. And of course this can change according to weather systems in the Atlantic (like Ivan.)

so, I guess the best way is going to be to just contact them directly for ship name then? I just hate to continue to have others call their customer service line for the ship info. I guess they leave us with no other choice eh?

indiman,

Mine too! I have a HB/W MCS that's also due into Port Hueneme on the 10th of October (compleated production on September 8th). I guess our cars are shipmates.

I feel like I have been waiting forever since I haven't been able to track my Mini. I have a Chile Red and Black MCS coming. Mine will be delivered to Colorado Springs, where will yours be delivered to?

indiman,

Yes, I feel the same way.

Mine is being delivered to So Cal (and the dealership is only a couple hours away from the VDC). Thus, I'm hoping that I'll have it by the 15th. My MA is on vacation until the 14th, so if it comes in before then, I just have to wait. I just hope that we don't get held up in the VDC for weeks like has been happening to those folks on the East coast lately.

CO eh... Man, I think that state has the longest delivery times of all of the states except for maybe Hawaii. Ouch! I'm sure that you'll have it before the end of October though. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you (funny as my sister lives in Colorado Springs - although I don't talk to her much any more as we just don't get along - it's a beautiful place though).

BTW, I keep reading about folks having an EDD (Estimated Date of Delivery) appear in the OL as soon as they move to "En Route", but my OL shows no such thing. I'm wondering if this is just an East coast thing. Do you have an EDD listed in the OL for your car?

TheOfficeMaven,

You're so lucky that your dealer is close to the VDC. I hope our Minis move through there quickly.

I don't have an EDD either... but I think I'm getting ADD from all this waiting!

Sorry to hear about your sister.... Colo is a great place. I haven't been to CA in a long time.

I will be in Boston and New York from the 14th to the 24th of Oct. I am hoping that my Mini will be waiting when I get back.

Jeff

If you know the name of your ship you can get the call letters from the coast gaurd on this sight then go to oceanweather.com you'll find your ship.

My E/B W MCS left Southhampton Sept. 28 and landed in Halifax Nova Scotia today. Now its on to Brunswick Ga., Panama, and Port Hueneme 10-22. I ordered mine from Ralph Schomp Mini, Denver, Co. On a list since March 22. Got to order on Aug 12th. Completed Sept 14th. Sat on the docks for two weeks. But now I'm happy just watching it move around the seas.

My car is on the ELEKTRA. If I remember right the one that left before it was the TRISTAN. Suppose to hit P.H. on the 10th. I think. Dang I wish I could remember the one before that. Cause I wanted on it . It left Sept. 16.
