Pulled Over...

Here is a first for me... I just pulled out of work when a cop pulled me over. He just wanted to get information on my New Mini Cooper S Convertible. He thought it was awesome and was thinking about getting one for his wife. It was between a Mini, a Sebring, and a Mercedes. Quite a wide selection.

If anyone is interested in getting the convertible, be sure it is an S. The extra HP is fantastic. The car really motors. Everyone loves the Cool Blue. At first I was worried about it, but it is really sharp.

Are you serious? Haha. I have never gotten pulled over yet (knock on wood) but if I do I would be scared like hell even if I thought I wasn't doing anything wrong.

Nervous

Yes, I was nervous, especially since we decided not to put on the front license plates which is required in Ohio. I thought they got me....

One of the reasons to move to Pennsylvania, where no one has a front plate. I made my husband, a native Toledoan (sp?), move here several years ago, and he has been thanking me ever since.

I do love the look of those convertibles though. I assume it will be a fair weather only car? The whole snow/cold weather thing convinced me to go with the regular cooper. Awesome choice on the color: I saw my first cool blue a few days ago. I'm sure the cop thought it was just as impressive as I did.

Did he even notice the absence of the front plate?

While sitting beside police,I find that if they have time they look hard at the car,I know one officer that would love to lose his echo, and get a MINI.

Hey wedge,
Better to be asked some questions than to get a ticket.
Maybe you have a "Cool lucky Blue" MCS.

Actually, I got pulled over exactly like that 3 times on 3 different cars
within the last few years. Cops just wanted to check out my ride..
made some excuse like my car 'looked like it had window tint' or
'was wondering if I still had the cat in the exhaust' something
or another... stop wasting my time...

Years ago a motorcycle cop asked me about my mustang. It was red with black leather and black top and lowered. He said, don't worry, I am not going to give you a ticket. I was parked in driveway at a bodyshop at the time. He just wanted to know about it. That's the only time any cop asked me about any car I owned including the MCS.

On NorthfieldRoad in Walton Hills. Evidently they must patrol the area very well, because he asked me if I was the one who had the red Mini Cooper that is usually in the parking lot.

I was going back to work after lunch and in front of me is an Impala with tinted windows going exactly the speed limit (45). Well I was late and NObody goes the speed limit on this road. So as soon as the dotted line allows me to pass, I down shift into second and red line as soon as I'm next to it and pull back in at 65 and slow down to 50. All of a sudden the whole front of the car lights up with flashing lights. It scared the hell out of me.
Turns out to be a cop in an unmarked car. (DOH) He didn't give me a ticket, however, he wanted to check out my car and said," It really sounded cool when you went past me, I had to check it out". So after swallowing my stomach, I went exactly the speed limit all the way to work.

I test drove my very first MINI a couple of weeks back, MCS Conv, I made it about a mile from the dealers to a nice twisty road. Went around the first corner with minimal tire squealing when I noticed a cop sitting behind the building I just passed pull out after me . He didn't hit the lights, but he followed me for the next two miles down that road just a few feet off my bumper while The MINI did 35 and my heart did 90. Finished out my test ride doing freeway interchange clover-leafs. The dealer told me that I wasn't the only one to get a scare test driving back there.

The test drive sold me and my wife and we are now happily waiting for our new black MCS Convertible.

He laughed when he told me about her idea of the Mercedes - said there was NO WAY she was ever getting that! The Mini and the Sebring had possibilities. Wonder if they get the Mini if they will show up for the get togethers?

GREGHARK - Congrats on your MCS Conv. We picked ours up last week and LOVE it, even though our test drive was no where near as exciting as yours  Have fun with it.

A couple of months after getting my MCS my wife and I were vacationing at Lake Tahoe, NV. We decided to take a drive around the lake and show off the new (at that time) MINI. We were in bumper-to-bumper traffic through the south shore and a marked Chevy Suburban with (5) cops pulls up next to me and start shouting questions. We drove together for about 10 miles, asking and answering a ton of questions (at times backing traffic up even further behind us - but with a cop car whose going to complain?). They went West on hwy 50 and we continued North - with a big smile.
My wife told that story for months afterwards.

OMG, that's wild! I'm in Ohio also and I also refused to maul my MCS by drilling holes in his front bumper. But I do worry about being pulled over for that reason. But usually, I am speeding, so I think I would be pulled over for that first! Seriously though, I've seen so many cops that have obviously seen the front of the MINI, and I have yet to be stopped - KNOCK ON WOOD!

Apparently they pull you over for that in the Metroparks of the Cleveland area. A friend and I were driving his non-MINI through there going the speed limit (30...which is impossible in a MINI ) and he got pulled over and given a warning for not having a front plate. It was stupid. I don't think most cops pull you over for not having a front plate unless they want to check and make sure you're not a felon. I do know that if they give you a speeding ticket then they will most likely cite you for not having it as well, particularly if they're having a bad day.

I hate front plates, at least the standard cooper has the mount plate that fits in the euro plate holder so it's not as bad. Although I'd personally like to get a fun euro sized plate to put in there once they get rid of front plates in Ohio, yes...wishful thinking isn't it?
