Lowered Mini, noises when wheels hardover?

I bought and installed my Ohlins coil-overs about 4 months ago, I notice when turning to get out of a parking space and or a cul de sac I hear a slight stretching noise while motionless or moving. So if I turn my wheels to the right all the way hard over I hear the noise from the right and vice versa. I lowered only .7" inches and had my alignment checked and it's spot on. What suspension component is making this noise?

Thank you for your assistance!

Ohlins! Nice! Great purchase. Is it only when you're at low speeds and turning your wheels and motionless? Check over bushings. How many miles on the car? Top mounts replaced when you put coil overs in? Those typically go bad on these cars.

Yes when I'm at very low speeds and turning my wheels motionless. It's got 61k and had never been noisy with stock shocks and struts, I didn't replace the top mounts, there was only a tiny amount of play in the bearings. Now I probably should have replaced them. The sound is the same for both sides.

I would start with replacing those and see if it makes a difference. Just so you can start ruling out parts of your suspension.

Give this a read and see if it helps. It's from the Megan Racing website but will probably pertain to most any coilover..

That link you provided solved the mystery, it is coil-binding because it does sound springy. For the first few hundred miles or so i didnt hear the coil bind at all, im thinking it took those few hundred miles for the powder coating to wear off the top and bottoms. Now that we know what's causing the coil-binding is there a downside by doing nothing or doesn't this require action? I'll shoot an email to Ohlins USA on Monday and see what they think, other than that there are no other sounds coming from my suspension.

I do remember the instructions saying to spay or wipe the shock body with WD-40. I going to clean and then spray WD-40 at top and bottom of the springs purches.
