R53 installing seatbelt buzzer, chime what have you

Ok, so I'm really bad about putting my seatbelt on. It's not that I don't believe in wearing on I just forget unless the car yells at me. Does anyone know where I can wire in like a radio shack buzzer to the light that stays on if you're seatbelt isn't buckled?

The light is a surface mounted LED on a circuit board. It isn't practical to wire something to it. Don't you get a chime alarm soon after you start driving?

There may be a programmable setting in NCS Expert, but by default it would be turned on (required by law for many years on all new cars). Yours has never worked? Do you get other warning sounds (e.g. opening the drivers door with key in the ignition)?

It looks like the chime for the seatbelt started in 05. Mine is an 04. Seems like it would be a pretty expensive system to try and get and install on my car even if that was an option.

So I guess I'd have to go back to my original thought of wiring something into the circuit that notifies the seatbelt light to stay on.

My MINI doesn't chime either when the seat belt is not buckled. A post-it on the speed seems like an easier way to remember to buckle up. After a while it will be second nature. I was an EMT on an ambulance for many years and saw what happens to people in accidents with no seat belt. It easily became a habit; now it feels weird if it is not buckled. Its a law in our state and the state police do ticket for it.

Be safe and Motor On

Yeah, a DYMO marker in a "loud" color stuck on the speedo and tach with the message "FASTEN SEAT BELT" would be a simple and inexpensive solution. I did the same thing to remind me to "TURN OFF ASC" when tracking TRACKRAT.

you could also find which fuse runs the light to the seatbelt indicator and tap a piezo buzzer from radio shack into the wires, so if the lights on the buzzer is making noise, i did one on my honda civic WAY long ago, and it was annoying as hell but effective

There is no separate fuse for that. The fused power is for the entire instrument cluster.
