I just put on the gloss plastic black door handle covers on my 2013 Mini 'S'.

In the directions it said to peel off from the covering for the sticky 3M tape AFTER you put the door handle cover on... I couldn't grab it to peel it off when in that position, so I peeled the covers off both before and put them on that way... that worked fine.

I also bought/installed the black outs for the headlights (snap out the chrome, pop in the black ones)... I like it. Not too teenage 'thug'ish'...

 

I've blacked out all the "chrome" trim on my 2011 R56s. Plasti-dip for headlight and taillight rings and gas cap, door handle covers, and OEM grille trim pieces. Used electrical tape for the beltline. Looks so much better.

 

I haven't done the 2 blackouts for the top and bottom chrome strips around the black grill yet. I wasn't too sure how to pop them out > seemed awkward...

I also have the blackouts for the rear chrome tail lights. Again, I don't know how to get to the back of the lights in the trunk to pop the chrome borders out... Duh...

What plasti-dip did you use? Easy?

 

With a simple plastic tool, you pry between the taillight and chrome surround, little by little the clips will pop loose and after about 3 or 4 of the clips, they should come off with ease. No need to remove the taillights.

The grille strips are a little tricky. The top half is easy actually. There is 2 or 3 screws and the rest just clips in place. Easy to remove. The bottom is a little harder. A plastic tool, again, helps. It's just a bunch of little clips.

 

The top grill trim is super easy to remove. Remove the 4 screws and then squeeze the black clips with a pair of pliers. You will hear them snap and just lift them up. Did mine this morning.

 

^This^ Just don't overtighten the screws when you put it back on, or you'll crack the trim and have to replace it. Ask me how I know...

For the bottom trim, once you remove the pins that hold the top of the grill in place, pull it forward, and you'll see the clips that hold the trim at the bottom on. Press to release and you're good to go.

For the taillight rings, it is covered above... just carefully pry them off. I used a flat-head screwdriver wrapped in duct tape. It will sound like you're breaking the rings, but go slow and you'll be fine.

I used regular black plasti-dip in a rattlecan for the headlight and taillight rings, and the fuel filler cover. Several light coats each, allowing it to dry in between coats and to fully cure before installing.

They look good from a distance, or if you get down at door handle level. When you stand at the door, you see a bit of chrome at the very edges of the covers. I'm not disappointed however.

Today, I put on the front and rear 'Mini' emblem covers and the hood scoop. The black scoop w/ the black emblem just below it with the chili red paint job w/ black top and mirrors... looks pretty funky, "I must say", as Martin Short on SNL would utter.

I didn't have time to do the rear lights and the grill border top and bottom.
