Hello all, new to this forum, but not to minis, had a 10' MCS that I loved but traded when I had my son, I only had 15k on it when I traded. Now I got back into a certified used 12' with 40k miles. Haven't found anything wrong with it and it drives great. First night I dropped the oil and checked the MT fluid. Fluid looks good but I'll probably drain and replace it with redline MTL. Other fluids look good and brakes and tires look good, clutch seems to feel good.
Is there anything I should be doing maintenance wise at this mileage?
I was planning on seafoaming the motor, is this recommended on the N18 engine?
Was the clutch built any differently with the n18 motor? What kind of clutch life are people seeing?
Also it seems the n18 engine seems to be better built in that the death rattle doesn't occur, pistons have been corrected, pcv system updated.
Is there any other major gotchas with the car that preventative maintenance will prevent, that I should do?

We have a '12 MCS with about 40k miles, bought it a couple of years ago. All I've done is have the oil and filter changed every 5-7k miles. Other than that, just the usual stuff (filters, wipers, tires, etc).

 

After more research, seafoam don't seem to do much. Looking into a media blaster setup to use with my 70 gallon compressor.
Anything else that should be done to the car?

 

The carbon build up looks like it happens on the older N14 2007-2010 engines with higher mileage, have not seen it much on the N18 engines. Take a peak at the intake inlet on the head side , you will have to unbolt the composite plastic intake manifold to see it on the head side.

Carbon blasting is the correct way to clean it. Great DIY here.

i have 55k miles on my n18 and no carbon build up, also I'm not going to lie, i drive very spirited and my clutch is perfectly fine... got the car brand new. but clutch life is mostly up to the driver

 

As its a 2012 make sure you check the wiring harness/oil sensor on the back of the sump.
