R50 sans rear spoiler w/ holes plugged.

I pulled the spoiler off a few days ago and plugged the holes with 5/8" plugs (1" top) I picked up at the hardware store.

I was not aware that the holes would be oval - not circular - so to keep the plugs from sliding I put a bit of silicone waterproof painter's caulk on the underside of the plug caps to hold them in place and seal the surfaces. This will do until I decide to have the holes properly sealed and painted.

Still needs a bit of clean-up...

Are you aware that MINI actually makes some little aero dynamic "fins" that cover these holes? I know ECS and a couple other vendors carry them. I just replaced my wing and have a set ready to paint to cover the holes.

Thanks. Yes, I've seen them, but I prefer the smooth surface - that is why I am going to likely weld and then grind the holes.

Each to his own...

Funny that I spent $100 to ADD a wing where there was none...

But it was worth it, wasn't it?

You've got more guts than I do! I would rather do the hole fill too, just don't have the talent and don't want to pay what the body shop would charge.

I should have said: I'm going to pay someone to fill and grind the surface. I can do the paint work myself however. If the cost seems too high (I'm a cheapskate), I may teach myself how to fill the holes properly with a filler and do all the work myself.

Shouldn't be hard to fill since you access both sides, if you weld, you'll have more rust protection to do where its harder to reach.
