4 wire harness in door.

I'm trying to figure out what this 4 wire harness is used for. I would like to re purpose it.
The harness is just taped off to the harness that goes to the puddle light.

Anyone know??

Likely for the power folding mirrors.

Nope.. Mirrors enter the door boot and go straight up to the mirrors.

These wires would Not support the current for the mirrors.

The plug is taped to the puddle light harness. Ends about the middle of the door.

I also cannot find the 4 wires on the car side of the harness.

OK - one more guess.

It may be the Central Locking harness for the drivers door on RHD cars.

It's the same in both doors. So it can't be for the power locks.

Whatever it is used for, has to be attached right above the puddle light. That's as far as the harness goes.

Sorry, I am reviving this thread as I just encountered this 4pin connector and am curious about its function/purpose? I have not been able to turn up an answer in online searching, but maybe the collective wisdom of the forum has found an answer to the function of this connector in the last 10 years?

Wowsers! Good question, I spent some time looking, I can't find anything about it. Hmmmmmmm?

I checked the wiring harness, and it is there, just no indication of what it connects to.

I got an answer via an R53 FB group (answer courtesy of Klynt Kammerer): "R52 pre wire for alarm proximity antenna. The factory alarms had one antenna on each door in replacement of the hardtop ultrasonic proximity antenna."

Does anyone have this proximity alarm?

As for the wiring, if it is for a proximity sensor, then I guess there is likely a constant Vbatt and Ground connection in that wiring harness, as well as perhaps CAN High and Low bus connections. I have not confirmed this in the wiring diagrams, yet.
