Spring is around the corner and it's mini tune up time. Decided to order this piece today - pretty cool and looks nice.

Questions for those who use this plus the powerflex bushings - maybe Way if you are around and see this.

Should I take out the two washers from the side of the tensioner that would touch this?

Any need to apply grease to the special nut that slides back and forth?

Otherwise this post is just to share some new bling...

In regards to applying grease....I would say no as it would likely not do any good and may just end up someplace where you don't want it (like on your belt).

I put one of these on last summer and replaced the damper shock bushings at the same time. I will say that recently the thing has started to "jingle" and the noise has become quite annoying. The bolts aren't loose...theres just enough give between the slot and washer that slides to allow it to rattle around.....so it's probably getting removed soon.

In terms of function, I'm convinced that it would probably do its job if the tensioner failed....just not sure the insurance is worth the annoyance now.

 

Nice feet, the way that I read Ways response you quoted was that he is referring to the stop that actually has/or looks to have the shock on it. I looked at those and thought that might be an issue with the design. My WMW tensioner stop and bushings just shipped from WMW yesterday. Call WMW and talk to them. I have had nothing but good experiences when dealing with them.
Kahnfucious and Fastlane, I will call Way Monday and ask those questions since know I'm going to need to know that information too.

 

Mine rattles like crazy too. Thinking of taking it off.

 

UPDATE:

Just got mine on there last night - it doesn't rattle that I can hear. I don't think I am overly strong - and with an 8 mm or whatever wrench you can't get that much torque. Mine is coupled with powerflex tensioner bushings...maybe that matters?

 

Give it a couple weeks. Mine didnt rattle at first either.

We do see these rattle sometimes. It's due to the bushings and the bar both being stainless, so the metal on metal can make noise. We looked into making either the bar of the bushings out of plastic but then they would wear quickly and fail.
The easy trick to stop the noise is to slide a rubber or ring on the slide end. This puts a little pressure on the slide and isolates it with the rubber.

 

Purpose over noise, I vote.
