dual pano sunroof retrofit ?

I had two Honda vehicles that I removed the entire sunroof assembly, even drove around with them off. They each were held in by just a few bolts, and it seemed that, the vehicle without sunroofs, could be retrofitted with the assembly, would just have to cut the roof. (Only real difference between the roof of one retrofit and factory are the rolled edges.)
I've seen a lot of MINIs at the salvage yard with full roofs and headliners, wondering if it's possible to retrofit.
Does anyone have pictures of a MINI 05-06 with the headliner off to "see" what the rood looks like and see the mounting for a sunroof is there?

kind of a related question...

So...I have the dual pano sunroof. but I want the non sunroof...roof. Do you think that'd be an easy swap? Is the roof just bolt down? or welded?

I think I need to pay a visit to the junk yard to find out...

I don't think it's a swap, but I'm sure that if you were to remove the sunroof assembly, plug the holes and put a non sunroof headliner, you'll be very close. I may know someone looking for an assembly and willing to swap if it's that easy!

Not that I have cut one apart to find out, but I get the feeling that the 2 cars are structurally different.

The sunroof car needs more support to handle the extra weight of the glass and also because of the hole in the roof there is more support for body roll etc that would not be there in a car with a solid roof.

At least that seems logical to me.

I believe the only difference is that the non-sunroof cars have an extra support bar where the hole would be. The sunroof rack itself is a support to strenghten the top. I plan on deleting mine one day, just need to get the money AND a good body shop.

Not the same roof, it's not just a piece of glass on flat steel... This even goes for Hondas.. (Which I've taken sunroofs out of..). As well as Audis and VW Golfs..

There is far too much tooling and structure at those mount points..

Wish you were close enough to pick up as I'd make you an awesome deal on a sunroof assembly from a wrecked MINI.

It can be done as the sunroof assembly is actually part of the structure for the roof. The non sunroof car has a brace going across the middle. I've converted cars to non sunroof but not gone to a sunroof.

I'd love to try, but maybe on a wrecked mini first to see if it can be done. I'm wondering if the brace is welded on or bolted. I've seen the sunroof assemblies only in pictures, so the non sunroofs would have to have all the mounting holes.
@way I'm 26 minutes away as I write this, Southwest terminal C.
12 hour drive to Milwaukee...
