New to the MINI world. What CAI?

Got a 09 Mini Coopers S Cabrio interchange yellow w/ JCW body kit on it. Haven't got to try it yet, sitting in the garage waiting for summer. Looking to put AEM CAI on it, but no review of it on here. Any thoughts? Thanks

The AEM and DDMWorks intakes will make the hoodscoop functional, whereas most other setups will encompass the same induction setup as stock, but the box looks cooler.

On the driver side inlet tube that connects near the side of the driver headlight. Our ECS CF intake uses that same stock tube on the lower section.

That's pimp, I like the ones that use the factory intake location. But the price is eye-watering so I'll have to wait a bit for that.

Aftermarket Cold Air Intakes, can sound cool, but they don't add any horsepower.

Dave is correct. If you want an intake get it for sound. They don't make the HP everyone dreams of. HP for ALL intakes is going to be about the same approx 2-3hp if any. That is why we offer the DDM street intake as it is less than $200 and gives you a huge gain in sound without breaking the bank.

MrElusive - The chart and dyno graph are attached to the product pictures and we love the way it looks in the engine bay.

If this is so, how can they post dyno results saying there CAI produces 10 + hp? Not disagreeing with you but just curious.

This was our results with the intake we designed. I don't think too many people have dyno'd with the JCW and the Cooper S engine together. Most focus has been on the Cooper S tuning air intakes. You can see our dyno results linked on the product. The larger gain was in the top end of the JCW engine.

Thanks

Be weary of power increase claims for an intake. If you want a cool look and more sound, then go for it, but the days of intakes making significant power are over: manufacturers are under huge pressure to increase efficiency so they leave no stone un-turned in maximizing power from small motors.

Dyno tests on intakes are not representative of real-world results unless the dyno has a wind tunnel. We have done literally hundreds of dynos on intakes and can learn tendencies, but we understand that the results are not necessarily representative of what actually happens on the street or track: we just don't have the fans to move the volume or velocity of ambient air across the front of a car. Until we build a wind tunnel (never) we will not make claims to intake gains.
