Sorry, easy question!
Sorry, easy question!
How much is a new OEM 15" 7-hole wheel, typically? I assume my dealer marks them up around 400%, but there's another dealer nearby that probably sells at a more legitimate price.
I've tried to find this answer out the hard way, I really have. I've left two messages with my dealer's parts department, e-mailed Classic MINI, and did a search on these forums.

One R81 15x5.5" 7 hole stock MC rim retails for about $146 each.
Part number 36 11 1 512 458 (silver)
Center cap $2.75 each
Part number 36 13 1 171 069
Also wheel available in white.
Did you bang one up?
You can also order them through Classic Auto Campus for a discount and ground ship it to you and not have to pay tax. They are a NAM sponsor.
If you are a BMW CCA member you may have a parts discount at your MINI parts dept even if you order the rim. It varies but usually runs about 10-15% off the retail price.

I was told to go pound salt at Classic when I asked for the BMWCCA discount. Was told it was only for Bimmers.......what do you know that I don't....or is it my pretty face???

Hmmm. . . . I pay the same annual dues to BMWCCA that BMW drivers pay,I get to drive with them at road track driving events, and I get the same club magazine in the mail every month.
But I don't get the clubdiscount for parts?????
I'm going to get my discount!

Funny you ask this. I had been searching for the same answer. I was quoted $156 from Irvine MINI (everything is more expensive there), but believe it or not I've seen single wheels, 7 holies, on eBay. Most full sets with OEM tires go for $400 - $500.
This very same thing happened to me! Three of my wheels also took a beating when I had new tires put on. Apparently someone didn't know how to use the air gun very well and gouged the heck out of them removing the cheater weights that I had asked them NOT to put on.
Needless to say I got some new wheels at a deep discount.
Did you show the tire company what they had done to your wheels? Shoddy work needs to be brought to their attention.
Best of luck!

Hope this doesn't step on any toes....
MINI of Nashville gives a 10% discount on all parts to members of the MINI Car Club (MINICC) , and their parts manager told me they had quite a few 15" rims taken off cars just sitting in the back. I believe he said they'd cost about $50 each, though that may be a little off.
Might be worth emailing him and asking.... Jay Lilley, MINI of Nashville parts manager

There's actually a holey wheel on eBay right now that I thought I had all to myself, but of course some bozo had to come in and bid it up another forty bucks. If anyone here is "nature223" I demand that you reveal yourself!
Guess I'll call a couple of dealers and see if I can find a take-off somewhere.

Dude I hate to tell you,I AM a Employee at BMW/MINI
it goes like this,my dealership HAD a set of THREE 7 hole rims,Part number#348TO,they sold..I NEEDED one more.
Now if you CANNOT bid high enough...stay off of eBaY,it is a BIDDING war,and if you are not willing to go high enough YOU LOSE.
Look me up,I am exceedingly a good guy to deal with and NO B.S'ing involved..however,I will NOT have my handle trashed,it is my ONLY ONLINE PERSONA..Hence it IS MY ONLINE NAME.
I'll give you some free advise, you want an item on eBaY?,BID AS HIGH AS YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY...if not?,somebody else will.
Now if you look up the bidding,I didnt even BID on that wheel until it was down to TWO DAYS.
Now if you are too lax to CONTINUE with the bidding,it is YOUR fault,NOT MINE,that you lose.
FURTHER;I REGISTERED HERE TO COMMENT,I'D NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THIS BOARD,I AM A SELF PROFESSED GUN NUT...NOT A MINI OWNER,AND NOT EVEN A MEMBER OF THIS COMMUNITY UNTIL THIS VERY FIRST POST..
Dude, take a lesson from a eBayer with good standing, and LOADS of experiance.
bid well,and in the dollar amount you'd spend at the highest price,you think fair;
LOOK FOR ALTERNATIVES,
WATCH THE STUFF YOU WANT!!!!!!

.....rant off.

? That means "I am kidding" or "hey that's a joke". Just thought that should be explained so you can leave this site without any bad feelings. Seems like a fair trade considering you gave us bidding lessons.

One is the 12 pound seven hole design (holies)
The other is the 8 spoke 15 pound 15" rim.
For racing purposes the lighter rim is better and both are 15x5.5".

Seems like a fair trade considering you gave us bidding lessons.I'd surmise with as much vitriol as YOU just sprayed forth,Your values dont recognise that EMBARRASSING fact that the SECOND amendment in the American Constitution are given the GOD GIVEN(not man,or government)right to own whatever goes bang.
MY GUN OWNERSHIP HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY POST..it was merely ILLUSTRATIVE of my TRUE interests..DUH,but your soooooo overtly specious of fact,it musta slipped past ya,or you dont realise that there is people of different personal beliefs,Or your thinking YOUR's is paramount,whatever...I wont give up MY hardwon, and OWNED personal property to assauge YOUR beliefs....I am an UNAPOLOGETIC Gun owner, but that is NOT the fact at hand is it?...YOUR inserting YOUR own belief structure upon me..and I will REBEL...
STAUNCHLY I might add,I am ready to MOVE at a moments notice if My state goes wrong against MY beliefs,I am that strongly motivated.
But that aside,Your ALSO inserting that I dont know diddly bo,about MINI's..
your dead wrong about THAT fact as well...but alas I digress, now to the point at hand.
I drive mini's,DAILY...I've driven EVERY variety.(BOTH base/and S,havent had a S works yet..but time will tell)..in stick,auto..and at it's limits of adhesion,taking on a WRX,he was mad...I was on his butt through that cloverleaf like a tick on a dog...only reason he left?,100HP higher.
I ALSO know where they break,HOW they break,WHY they broke...in short,
I've seen EVERY critical failure IN my dealership..
(as in I'm feeling smug)YOUR politics seem to be intruding upon a board where it has no merits...Mine are for Me and MY own consumption...your's are breaking forth and taking over where it hasnt a place, and smacks of intrusiveness....YOU may wish to to try decaf...it's just a tasty as real coofee and my adding enough political "gun owner ****" you may find it palatable enough for you to spew all over your monitor reading this post...I am an UNAPOLOGETIC poster..except when I MAKE a grievious error in posting a fact or quote of ANOTHER I got wrong, other then that, for all I care,You can bang your head in frustration against the monitor for my not being a good SHEEP...and following the flock as it were.
RE-rant off
You want to have an ADULT conversation and talk MINI's?,cool by me.
now being a snotty nit picker who WASNT even the wronged party..AINT.
Note;I did use smilies...and I will USE them again BWahaha haha hahahah
Now dont make me open a can of smilies upon your buttocks(joking)
chill dude, life is too short to be in a constant state of **** off...your going nowhere MAD...seeya,natch

Nature, Do yourself a favor and reread this post (if you care too). I'll keep this short and will not be responding to any more posts regarding this issue. You assume I am not a gun owner, wrong. I didn't say anything about gun ownership being a problem. Just gun nuts who attack first and ask questions later. You say you are rebelling, your not that would mean someone is trying to take something from you. I'm not. What I am doing is standing up for a fellow mini enthusiast when they were blasted for a silly comment. You yourself mentioned this was your first time on this site. Take some time and look around. This is an awesome site where people are very supportive, informative and genuinely interested in helping each other out. Very unusual I think and I will protect that if I can. I hope you stay an active member of this site as it seems you could offer some great info on these cars and your interests. Just take some time and look around and get a feel for this place. You'll enjoy it. That's it for me. Chrisnl glad you got your wheel. Those curbs are tough.
Good lord... this will certainly make me think twice before I go poking around behind the showrooms of too many "mid atlantic northeast" MINI dealerships. You never know who/what you might run into...
Hmm,
Nature223, why not go by Nature556? It is more in keeping with the correct calibre size in metric, just like the MINIs and BMWs you work with.
(Note to the uninitiated, the Remington .223 is the Military cartridge used by the USA in its small bore rifles such as the M-16. It is also commonly referred to as Nato 5.56 x 45mm cartridge. The difference is only one of the mode of measurement, .223 is the measurement in inches of the bullet. It is 223/1000ths of an inch in diameter; while 5.56 millimeters is the equivalent metric diameter of the bullet.)
Lighten up a little on your fellow e-bayer, his post meant no disrespect, he was just looking for a good deal on a 7" holey.
p.s. We have the occasional gun related thread on Off Topic Politics, do a search you may be surprised to see what you find in Second Amendment related opinions here on NAM.

Well,I do LOOOVE me some good gun chat..Thanx
looking in retrospect..I may have been a tad harsh..I was not intending to trod toes here..Hell,You guys are my bread and butter as it were.
if not for you,HALF of the reason BMW of North America is growing like the proverbial weed, wouldnt occur.
My Dealer has sold OUT of our alotment of availiable units more times then I can count..I almost feel trepidation with the convertable coming soon..that thing is going to sell like....well..ALOT!!!!
The emocons/smily things are KINDA subjective, and really dont make much sense to me short of a smile to show humor,or for affection towards a person you "know"...anyway,I was NOT intending to have myself viewed as a hardass, with no humor towards other's attempts at humor I MISSED AS A SLIGHT,when none was intended...D'oh!!!
I WILL look up your "gun politics" threads..thanks for the kind offer,Anyway..I hope I didnt give everyone a bad first impression..I HAVE had persons making posts on other boards in my handle and I Reallly cannot allow Him/her to continue making My Handle also my EBAY "name" look like I'am that which I am not....happy motoring, natch

Gun OWNERSHIP is an inalienable right as well...choose to,fine
Choose not, just as fine..please dont mess with my rights.
Your attacking MY dealership with BAD intent for a SIMPLE missunderstanding, that ISNT right.
My dealership ISNT MINE,it is my employer's.
ergo;I cannot make it a;" MINI/gunstore/drunken revelry house of ill repute"
not that I would,I am not that much of a;"nut job" as you predispose me to..
if your argument is with me,and MY misunderstanding..your off base, and as far as I am concerned it has no merit..it was made a non issue..things were settled, and we're moving on,thank you very much.
now if Your intimating my DEALERSHIP is full of;"gun toting trogledites",that I truly resent, your plastering Your values upon MY choices, and if my choices are mine..your ideals dont come into play.
As an adult,IF I choose to commit any act;Pro/Con-Good/Evil,it was MY choice and mine alone, and I suffeer the consequences of MY ACTIONS.
Now If You were to break down, would you sit along side the road, thinking:
"oh my....I broken down in a Mid Atlantic State, they are gun owners, and potential gun nuts..I wish to be towed AWAY from this area immediately..I cannot willfully support gun owners..they've GOT to be gun nuts"
that's sad,and a very narrow way of thinking..further,You'd be the one now inconvienced.I'd STILL have my ideals intact, and you'd be whisked off to Where??,oh where..to the Idylic place of;"MINI MECHANICS who dont own firearms?"....Sheesh man,I'd think that you'd concider My professionism first AS A BMW/MINI Employee, and WISHING you on your way with a MINIMUM of problems..and the merest fact of MY wishing you to CONTINUE TO BE A CONTENT MINI OWNER...it's only good business,to have happy,RETURNING customers..wanting MORE cars we built/sell/service.
BTW..it's not like I have a HUGE sign in neon over me screaming for attention:"RESIDENT GUN NUT',.....dont make him angry,he's got short fuse, and he's not happy with some people online, who he has to get even with..Grrrrrrrrrrrrr"

Just weighing my options.
