Aftermarket Shift **** Options?

So i have been looking through NAM and the interwebs and i seems that the only Mini Specific aftermarket **** is from Whalen Shift Machine. Are they any others. i am only interested in a **** made for the mini cooper not a universal or one that requires an adapter. if it makes a difference i have an 02 R50

What kind of ****? I have a carbon fiber ball ****, got it off amazon for $25 it's identical to the m7 minus the logo. It does use allens but no adapters.

They hold really well, even if your one of those fast and furious shifters.

Yep, I found a nice one off of Amazon also...around $25. I can't see spending $80+ on a shifter ****...that's nuts.

Raceseng has some nice ***** - including some delrin-wrapped ones about
1# in weight like their Topologi - for those who don't want to grab a metal
**** in the dead of winter or the heat of summer. Pricey like the Whalens,
but they look appealing.

I've been very pleased with the 600+ gram Slammer.

The Ashiko would truly be one bad *** ****.

A heavier shift **** gives more momentum/inertia when shifting, which helps on the
relatively high-effort nature of the Getrag and its associated shifting mechanism,
especially when engaging reverse.

... up to a point. If you attach a 16# bowling ball, it's gonna make it worse, not better.

I would guess that about 16-24 oz (1 - 1.5# or 455 - 682g) - would be the sweet spot
in terms of weight range for a shift ****.

That might hold true if you are slamming through the gears in a race car, but on a daily driver...I doubt anyone would ever notice. Not much inertia force generated with slow easy shifts.

Go ahead and put on a full weight bowling ball, then!!
If it's too heavy, use a 12 lb. ball like women often use.
Let me know how it goes.

The Whalen **** is a fantastic piece, from the weight to the custom engraving, everything about the **** is great, but the price is steep.

I have a Craven Speed **** on my car, which they have as of recent stopped manufacturing due to cost. It weighs a little less than the Whalen ****, but is also half the cost.

We have one left in stock, $99 plus shipping.

Let's say it takes you 1/2 second to make a shift.....moving your shifter **** 4 inches. That means you are moving your shifter ball 8 inches per second.

If the shifter **** weights 16oz (1lb or .4535kg)..and it's moving at 8in/sec....that's equal to .2032 meters/second.

When you do the math...the momentum change is 0.09 kg-m/s. So.. that means that .09kg (3.17oz) of force for every meter per second.....so .2032.

So...3.17oz x .2032 = .64 ounces........that is how much extra momentum a 16oz shifter **** generates when you move it 4 inches in 1/2 a second. That's .04 lbs. What's a stock know weight? 1/4lb? OK...so you changed the momentum by .01lbs ....that's nothing.

I'm not 100% sure the math is right...but I think it's pretty close
