Best Tuning Options for the N14

Hello all,
I have been searching extensively for a tuning solution for my 09 Mini Cooper S Clubman (R55, N14). I have not found a thread that deals specifically with this. If this has been covered before I apologize.

VividRacing has a OBDII flash-able tune with adjustments to O2 and redline thresholds if requested. Claimed HP gain is around 33HP and runs $835 for the flashing cable and the tune. **You cannot make adjustments to the tune, but VR claims that the tune will adapt to bolt on modification (Intercooler, intake, exhaust) ** They also offer products that are strikingly similar to the JB+ for the N14, but the wording in the product page doesn't give me complete confidence (or at least not enough to go blowing money on it)

There are a number of "mail us your ecu" options which provide similar gains for around $535 after shipping, but do not allow the O2 threshold to be raised for higher flowing cats. They also have specific options for Stage I, Stage II ect.

WMW has options to get a mail in tune for $500, and has a $200 switching module option that I would really like to find out more - so anyone with first hand knowledge please pipe up!

Ideally I'd be interested in the Full Access software, even at the premium price of $700 because I have written tunes in the past for other cars and would like to write my own for the mini. Unfortunately though, it looks like they stopped with the supercharged versions.

The JB+ would also be awesome, but it appears to be exclusive to the N18 engine. If this is incorrect, please send me a link to one that will work with the N14.

Which route did you use to tune your N14? Any other options I should consider?
Also, if any of my information is incorrect, please let me know and I'll adjust this post.

For others in the same boat as me here are links to the options with prices as of December 30, 2014.

Way Motor Works Tune is $500+ and $200 if you want the switching module but it is not required.
Vivid Racing OBDII Tuner This runs $700 and has a tune that 'adapts to new bolt on parts' it includes the cable.
Manic Mini Runs about $600 for the tune (Stage 2) and $200 for the switching module.
Evolve Tuning This one runs $500 and another $200 for the OBD II Cable.

I went with Evolve's e-tuning option, the Evolve-R. So far, the customer service has been great and I really like the tune. Mine is on an fJCW with some other mods. Seems to pull hard. I'll dyno this year and see how she does, but the tune's drivability is great.

Thanks! I looked at their dyno plots and their stage II map looks with almost all of the useable power prior to 4500 rpms. It seems like the map would encourage you to shift well before redline, which I really like.

Same here with the Evolve-r remote tune no problems since flashing over a year and a half ago. Can code out CEL for hi flow cat/decat. I contacted a member on here about their stage 5 tune he said he's run it with a hi flow cat no problem.

People on here a raving about Manic tunning if you can find a dealer nearby you won't have to worry about shipping your ECU.

Manic Motorsport. I have an entire thread on it. You will love it.
Fully switchable software. Can switch to stock in 1 second. Switch back to performance in 1 second. Will have 3 performance maps depending on what you want. Mine is set to Performance Map A (19psi) 91 Octane. Performance Map B (21.7psi) 91 Octane with Meth. Performance Map C (23psi) 100 Octane with Meth. Tune is one of a kind. Very next generation. I've hit 154mph easily with Stage 2. I am at Stage 3 now and I can't describe to you guys the thrill. Never knew a mini could achieve around 300hp. Great feeling!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Looks like i have a bit more research to do, although I am absolutely loving the choices that are out there. I already have a 2006 STi with a larger turbo and water meth, so I don't really need it to be racecar fast. I just want it to be more fun than it is.

Been in contact with most of the tuners, most of them have a pretty solid rep on here, so it will probably come down to price / downtime.
I did see some chatter from back in 2011 about FA56 coming out, but nothing since. I would have loved to write my own and honestly I would have paid the extra money to write my own over a remote tune.
I like Manic, and the switching capability it provides, but I really don't want to throw almost $800 at a tune (and SPS) on what is basically my Winter beater / commuter car.

You don't necessarily need a SPS switch, you can leave it on map B.

We will never have enough power, well not until we are capable of faster than light travel.

My N14 was RMW tuned and I was very pleased with it. (Car since been sold).

RMW is in California and does tuning parties across the US. I do believe he can remotely tune as well but don't quote me on that.
