I have a 2006 R50 with a double sunroof. The back half does not open, and the front is (of course) electric.

I been seeing pictures of 2006s with the back sunroof open, but I can't figure out how to open mine.

Did Mini have options for the back sunroof with some being able to open and some not?

No, the double opening sunroof wasn't available until the second gens came out. So 2007+

That's strange because I just saw a 2006 on one of the used car sites here with a picture showing the rear sunroof opened.

Hard to believe the owner doesn't know the year of the car. Takes all kinds...

 

im not aware of any gen 1 having a double pop, gen 2's have that.


and they only work when you pop them open, once to completely open them, the rear one closes

 

I asked this question a few years ago when I noticed the same thing. I am sure it was a gen1 with popped up rear roof. I never did get an answer.
Maybe it can be a retrofit from gen2 into a gen1?

 

Nope. Only gen2s had those.
