OBD no communication

Hey gang,

On my R53, I can't communicate through the OBDII connector with the computer. The scan tool will power up, but can't talk to the computer. I have checked my F3 fuse, and it's okay... what should I check next?

What computer? DME?
Why are you trying to connect to it? Have codes? Anything weird going on?

CAN / Multiplex issues are not to fun to hunt down.

For Emissions testing in Virginia, they have to check for readiness codes through the OBD port. Right now, the scan tool powers up, but gets no communication from the on board diagnostics...

No codes that I know of(since I can't check), but the vehicle runs fine and the check engine light turns off after it's self-check. If I didn't need to talk to the computer, I would never had known anything was wrong...

Check all the fuses...
I seem to recall a similar post way back...
Had a bad fuse...so the pin on the odb2 plug was not powered...so no communication...I know some of the cheapest readers use the cars power...heck my harbour freight $30 one does...so the fix made sense...
Everything else is going to be tracking down wiring issues I think...

Just saw you say you checked a fuse...hmmmm...any power at the odb2 pin?
I might check the cars ecu (next to the airbox/where it was if if you have a cai)...maybe the pins/plugs are loose...
