Windshield washer warning light

I have had this light on since i bought the car (used), the fluid is full, but the warning light stays on. Is there a reset on the stalk...or is there a problem somewhere?
thanks

There must be a sensor near the bottom of the tank. I would check to see if the sensor became unplugged, or else the sensor may be bad.

If the sensor is plugged in, I would unplug it and see if the warning light goes out. If it does not go out, jump across the terminals (I'm assuming that there is only 2) and see if the light goes out. This will tell you if the switch is normally on or normally off. It is up to you to replace the sensor or not.

I remember seeing the pump behind the driver side fender liner, but I'm not sure of the sensor.

Have fun,
Mike

looking at the book for an 09 (random GEN2 year as you don't say what you got)

the only thing this tells you is the fluid level is low . . . so if you are not low the sensor must not be working or got unplugged . .

what I'm saying is this is a single function warning ... some indicators mean one thing if yellow and another if red ... this one just warns about fluid level . .

I know Mercedes has problems with their sensors failing if you use the RainX brand washer fluid. The water repellant compound in it can cause the fluid level sensors to fail. Not sure if the MINI sensors have the same issue (we have been using RainX fluid in both our MINIs for 4+ years without an issue). Just a thought.

If the sensor is bad, you could always just unplug it, or short the contacts in the plug (whichever does the trick) to make the light go out. The eleven cars I owned before the MINI never had a washer fluid warning light. I am not sure if the one in my MINI even works because I top off the fluid regularly.

No problem with mine. As a matter of fact I didn't even know there was a sensor. Guess I've never let the level get low enough.
I have a different problem with mine. Only the drivers side (and the headlights) spray. I raised the hood and fiddled with the plumbing and tried it before closing the hood and it worked. Closed the hood and now it doesn't work. Beats the heck outa me.. I'll mess with it some more tomorrow day.

Look along the tube routing for a pinch point.

Darn it! I do believe you're right. I think my new strut tower brace is pushing the AEM CAI duct up just far enough to pinch it.When the hood is open it releases the pressure enough for the jets to work. Now I need to order some new push rivets to remount the duct. I've used the originals twice and don't think they'll make it for another round. Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I'd been staring at it too long and was not even seeing the duct.

I didn't like how lose the push rivets were when all the way in, so I installed rubber tubing (gas line) and got rid of the gap between the push rivets and the hole in the duct. I probably still have the broken bits inside my hood when I uninstalled the AEM CAI.
