2005 Mini Cooper S features?

I've ordered my MCS and now it's in production so I can't change anything on it. I'm starting to worry that I missed a few things. I'm stuck with the dumb 16" stock wheels. I didn't know you had any option of choosing the style. Also, I forgot to ask about keyless entry and different stereo systems. I need to know what I'm getting and what I can add later. I ordered an MCS witht the premium package and front fog lights is about it. What will my Cooper include and what will I have to add later if I want MP3 playback that works with the MFSW and what about the keyless entry? I need answers, I'm starting to feel sad.

 Hey, Boge! I have the 16-inch v-spokes with the Dunlop performance runflat tires and I love both the rims and the runflats! They're much lighter than the 17-inchers, which many people end up replacing with aftermarket rims and non-runflat tires.

The only stereo option that MINI offers other than the stock system, is the Harmon/Kardon. You can go to the audio forum here on NAM and see what people are doing with their sound systems. I like the H/K...it's just perfect for me. You can also get the Sirius radio system, and I believe there is an Auxiliary dealie for I-pods/MP3s.

Each MINI comes with a key that has the MINI wings logo on it and a little symbol of a lock. To open the doors, you press the wings: once for the driver's door, twice for passenger and hatch, and if you hold it down for a few extra seconds, your sunroof and windows will open. Very cool. And when you press on the lock symbol, that locks the MINI.

Believe me, once you see your baby and drive her/him, you will be VERY pleased! Don't feel sad....you will get that silly MINI grin, I'm sure, once you hop in and drive your MINI off the lot! Don't worry....be happy!

Right there with MINclo. Whatever you think you may have missed etc., trust me, when you go to pick it up and see yours for the first time, you will love it. When you drive it, you'll love it more.

Don't even be sad. Anything you did or did not get can be remedied later if you feel the need.

I bought a car the dealer had ordered rather than ordering one due to the long wait. I accepted some things I would not have done had I ordered one and in most cases I like what I bought either better or certainly just as well as what I would have ordered. The MINI as a whole is what's a blast, not the specific combination of ordered options. When you get it, (or like many of us, before you get it!) you can, and I'm sure you will, personalize it to your hearts content, and the importance of which options you ordered will not matter a flit.

You will love it. BE HAPPY AND HAVE FUN!!!!!

Oh yeah, ear to ear grins are standard!

Do you plan on autocrossng? If so i would cancel your current order and put in another one with the optional LSD.

Otherwise whatever the other guys said....

First off, I'm not planning on autocrossing. Just casual commuting and a "spirited drive" from time to time. Secondly it will be a she. My friend has this theory, and I hope no body is insulted by this, but he feels that Manual transmissions are female and Automatic is male. Reasoning: You don't have to tell a guy how to do something, but you have to tell girls. Now that is his quote so get mad at him if you'd like. I just nodded and said, whatever. I only like driving Manual, and I prefer to ride a girl than a guy. So, I name all my cars female names. Anyway, I'm only really concerned about the stereo now and the multi-function steering wheel. I don't want buttons on my wheel that don't work, and I HAVE to have MP3 playback. What is my way of getting this? What will I need? What if I want a Sony player or something other than the Harman/Kardon set up?

This was just released by Apple and BMW and I'm sure there are a few threads about it. Although it isn't official, most believe that it will be coming to the MINI as well.

http://www.apple.com/ipod/bmw/

Apple actually had a MINI on this page at one time, but removed it for unknown reasons. My buddy at Apples says it's coming and so does my parts guy at the MINI dealership.

The great thing about this adaptor is that it not only DIGITALLY links your MP3 iPod (and powers it), it also lets you control it with your MFSW.

Boge,

I wouldn't be concerned about the wheels. The 16" wheels, I think, are cool. Very few people have them, since a lot of people went with 17" wheels. They are also quite light at 17.5 lbs. There aren't a lot of wheels lighter and the ones that are, are only a couple of pounds lighter. So I think they are a good choice.

The radios that come with the Mini can not play MP3's, so I would recommend the iPod link that BMW just introduced. I think the stock radios should come with the capability of playing MP3's. I have never understood the extreme lag in technology on stock radio systems. I can understand that they may not have the latest greatest features, but they are really behind the times. I just test drove a new car the other day in which a casette player was standard and you had to pay extra for a CD player. That is ridiculous.

There is a chouce other than the 16" v-spoke??????

I thought that you can only get the 16" V-spoke or the 17" s-lites from the factory.

i've had the same problems since the 05 configurator is not out yet.

i too was wondering about the mp3 stereo. if it comes standard, that's cool. if not, there's the ipod thingy, but there's also a lot of nice aftermarket mp3 cd stereos that aren't too expensive.

i had issues with the wheels, too. i asked for the 5 spoke 16"s. i'm not sure if they are available stock or not, we'll see what happens....

i'm not in production yet, i've added dsc since ordering, but i am sad about the lsd. it's just that i've already been waiting forever because i wanted an 05 instead of an 04, and there is no way i could survive until feb/mar.

the stereo and wheels are very easy to swap, and aftermarket is better than stock in those categories, so i wouldn't worry about it. besides, you could always trade in for an 06!

According to the MINI International site, "CD player with MP3 capabilities" is listed as being available for all models. http://www.mini.com/com/en/model_refreshing/index.jsp > All Innovations

I have a 2005 on order, and they should all have the ability to play MP3's off CD-R and CD-RW discs. The European Mini site says that all models built from July 1 on will have this feature.

I too have a little concern that I missed some option that I will want later but not be able to add, but most things are available as after sale option.

I'm confused about what I get with no spare tire on hand. The owner's manual talks about a "mobility kit" that has a tire repair and air pump kit, but it does not say what model includes it or if it is an option. Quite frankly, there does seem to be no one who knows much about these things.

The Mini site says that there are so many options on the Mini, that only 10 of every 1 million cars built will be identical, and since everyone talks from the reference point of their own car, thats a lot of diffent opinions!

Fom what I can tell, even a bone stock Mini has a lot of features, and quite frankly, a a lot of the options available seem superfluous.
