Short screech when it shifts under WOT

2014 JCW Auto. When I step on it and the engine winds up it shifts at pretty high RPM (6000 maybe), and the tranny makes a very short high pitched chirp/screechy sound when it shifts 2-3 and 3-4. At first I though it was the tires chirping but it's a shift sound. Doesn't do it any other time. Thoughts?

First thought? Warranty! Second thought...has it always done this, or is this a recent development? Maybe the BOV or "recirculation valve" unloading turbo pressure? Not sure if the auto pops the BOV when it shifts...

+1, listen to it carefully. I hear that with my manual R56 when shifting at about 6000 rpm... I know it's the DV releasing boost for a split second.

It's always done this since I bought the car in April. It's only for a split second shifting from high RPM only. I can get on it pretty good and it doesn't do it. It has to be nearly at redline to happen.

Personally, I would take it to my dealer, and show them the issue. Make sure it is documented. At least that way, you may have something to "fall back on" if any further issues should develop. I drove a 2013 MCS with an auto for a week while my 2011 MCS manual was in for warranty service. I did not beat the crap out of it, so not sure what happens at redline when the auto shifts. The 2013 auto pulled strong through the shifts, but like I said, I didn't push it to redline. I did not hear any noises that would have concerned me. I guess I missed my chance to flog the living crap out of the MINI MCS auto. Dang! Certainly an opportunity I will take advantage of next time...
