2012 Countryman stock stereo speaker upgrade

My 2012 S is just about up on 50k warranty and want to put some new speakers and possibly an amp b/c stock stereo is horrible. I do not want to mess with head unit because it is so integrated in the dash. Any recommendations would be appreciated. PS I have Bluetooth and stock system.

I installed Polk speakers in all 4 doors. Made a major difference in sound. Easy install if you have plastic panel tools. Took about 15 minutes per door. If I remember correctly they were about $65 a pair.

Yes I have plastic panels. Do I take entire panel off? Do you remember the size speaker and model number?

Polk DB401 4", and yes the entire door panel comes off, watch the wiring and I meant to say plastic panel tools to aid in releasing the door panel without breaking the plastic clips. The factory speakers are triangular but any 4" will fit up to 3" deep and you can line up 3 of 4 holes.

With the 4" Polks, can you reuse the OEM grilles or do you need to use the Polk grilles?

Yep. All 4 doors. The rear's have a amplifier filtered bass cutoff so they don't make as a big a difference as the fronts.
