R56 Is this for fuel pressure or nitrous
Is this for fuel pressure or nitrous
I found this on my car Sunday. First weekend owning her so I'm still finding things but what's it for. To the left is an aluminum fuel box to the right is the fuel line coming in. I guess I'm asking do you think it had nitrous on it? O just a fuel pressure gauge....
Looks like it could have been either based on the description of the part #. Can you even add nitrous into the fuel line before the HPFP? Since there aren't really any tuning options that would let you do that with an r56 I'm guessing it was just for a fuel pressure gauge. Not sure what good a fuel pressure gauge does you though...

Ok, so I went to a muffler shop n the guys there said he put the previous exhaust on it, he said the owner at the time told him he just had it tuned at the price of 2000 bucks... I don't know man I think he was talking crap, but the car does get up n go. I need to get a hold of the old owner. I have his name but some people are wierd bout that stuff. I don't wanna seem like a stalker or wierdo
Well it is a tap for NOS but he could have just used it for a gauge. Do you see any extra wiring under the dash or so for a button ? Do you see anywhere along the intake a tap for a fogger NOS ? Do you see where a fuel gauge might have been mounted inside for the "cool" factor ??
No place for the fuel gauge I even looked to see if the tach had been taken apart to mount something to it, but no scratches on the screws. I don't know if this matters but one side of each windshield wiper water dispenser on the hood is disconnected so water only comes out of the two outside ones the middles don't work...???Purging system maybe??? Yes I have a switch n a **** next to it that I have no clue what they are. But it's a real cheesy nitrous switch is really didn't think it would be nitrous. The **** next to it seems to do something with the power but I'm not sure. It had an after market Intake, real nice exhaust, the switch n **** and so far the NX thing I'm asking about that's all that looks to be after market on it. The muffler guy said the old owner had big ole pockets he only owned it for ten thousand miles. The first owner was a older woman in her 60s.

Alright guys I finally talked to the right owner the real old owner..... So he did he Nitrous but one day in Orlando they had. "Tune Day" and flew some guy in from Cali that he said does the baddest tunes while on the Dyno they took the nitrous off because the guy told him both tune n nitrous would blow the engine then tuned it. He said they got 18psi out of the turbo Max and 215 hp. It has cold air intake, Down pipe , and cat deletes and exhaust. He said I NEED to put a larger inter cooler on it Fast. So do they make a larger inter cooler that bolts up to same spots. also he had to put high composite tires on for traction he said they we're exspensive.so does that sound right guys??? If so besides inter cooler what else should I be looking into

This is a highly recommended intercooler for the pre LCI R56S
You can get the uprated version as well but will require quite a bit of trimming of the front bumper cover, unless you have the JCW Aero II front bumper cover.

There are others options from Forge and Helix available as well.
As for what you should be looking into? Depends on what direction you'd like to go. Being in Florida, I would do the intercooler regardless, do to your climate conditions there. But from there, whatever you'd like to do. Intake and exhaust on these cars will be for looks and sounds mostly. Little to no power gains unless you get a tune that would be built for your mods.
I went back and forth on what I wanted to do to my car first. Power or Handling. I chose power. But, a little part of me still thinks I could have went the other way first. But I'm doing it all anyway so it really doesn't matter. I suppose you could go a third route and go for looks. Lower it, get a body kit and an audio set up. Its all up to you. It's your MINI.
Also don't forget about good maintenance. If the intake valves haven't been Walnut shell blasted then I would do that for sure. You could gain back power the engine lost do to carbon build up. Plugs and air filter (if staying with the already great stock intake) Check the turbo oil line and make sure there isn't a leak there. Water and thermostat are common things that can fail. Mine did after I had it 2 months. Proper maintenance can go a long way, especially if it hadn't been done properly in the past.
Again its all up to you. Motor on!

Wow... I just drove 5 miles only pretty hard though, when I shut the car off it's making a hummmmm kinda elec..or maybe HOTT water kinda noise by the turbo more torwards the right side of the engine/turbo. I never heard a noise like this. I can't tell if it's electrical or really HOTT water. But I can tell u the turbo I freakin HOTT does that mean the owner guy was right maybe I should be easy on her till the inter cooler. Damn I don't wanna mess anything up n it looks a bit oily under that heat shield..... Arrrrggghhh I'm going mini crazy I might have to take a loan out to do this..uh...

It does get crazy hot in the engine bay. These are tiny little motors making a fair bit of power. Things get hot. There are aftermarket replacements for the turbo oil feed lines and they are replaceable by a DIYer. Just takes some patience. I would recommend a Bentley manual as it'll have information on a lot of the repairs you may need to do.
What you need to do before anything else is figure out what the little dial is on the dash
This is totally speculation but I would guess that it could have been Jan from RMW (Revolution Mini Works) that did the tune. He is well respected.
There is an electric water pump that will run after the engine has shut off to keep circulating coolant through the engine and turbo. It's not unusual.

When I spoke with the old owner yesterday,( the actual old owner I have spoke with a couple people in the family but not the guy that drove it n did all the mods to it) All he said was the switch was high power head lights then he kept on about getting an intercooler finally I got the question about the **** in and he said "Oh don't worry about that it's a mod I had done but they took it out before you got the car, just go buy that intercooler the really needs it" he's stopping by today to show me some proud pics of her with nitrous, getting tuned on the dyno, and a track day. I'm gonna get all the answers then
