r56 front rotor degrade from 280mm to 276mm
Hello guys,
I purchased the front brake replacing kit for my wife's 2008 mini cooper hatchback.
I mistakenly ordered the rotor that fits the first generation, measured 276mm in diameter, but the correct one should be 280mm.
However, the pads I ordered is the correct one for R56, does it matter to fit these rotor and pads into the car?
Thanks in advance!
MC

Yes it does matter. Not at the beginning though. What is going to happen as you wear down that pad the part that does not wear is going to start forming a lip and over time both lips are going to make contact and then you will no longer be able to bake at all. Happen to my friend and his MINI. He bought that way not know that the wrong rotors were on the car and well he damn near smashed into a wall and well the culprit was wrong rotors. SHop smart and return those and get the correct ones.

I decide to either replace the rotors and pads by myself or find some freelance mechanics to do that. How would you suggest? I was majored in mechanical engineering, not so sure if it's a good idea to DIY.
Do it yourself, it's an easy, straight forward job. It should take about 1 hour. The longest part is jacking up the car and taking off the wheels. There are plenty of DIYs listed here and elsewhere (youtube). A caliber piston compression tool makes it easier but not absolutely necessary.
