R56 Left over '13s
Left over '13s
Having come oh so close almost exactly a year ago to buying a Mini, I now find myself panicking to buy a 13 before there are none left. Wondering if anyone has any advice as far as how aggressive I can be with price?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I have seen dealers posting prices on their sites at $2000 and one dealership at $3000 below MRSP. I wasn't sure how much more aggressive I could be. Also, this is for a JCW, so not sure if that changes things. Dealers always claim there is less money in those cars for them, but who knows.
As for a vacation, that is definitely how I plan to do it. The dealerships where I found cars that fit the bill are not all that close to me.
Thanks for the help.

Did that include USAA money? I am a member and the dealer thinks I will get $1,000 there.
Shopping around is tough. I have only found 3 cars that are manual transmission and not a GP.

Aww, good luck! I was unfortunately unsuccesful in finding a 2013 R56 with all I wanted (plus had to be manual) and had to leave the MINI brand (hopefully just for now!). I looked as far east as Denver (live in Seattle). Found some there but they were snapped up before I could get there. Good luck though, they are getting harder and harder to find unless you aren't picky what features the car has! You should be able to get at least $2000 off MSRP.

No USAA money due to the heavy discount my dealer was giving.
I got my 2013 hardtop for just around 2k under msrp about a month ago. They told me several times that the price was below their invoice, which I highly doubt, but still I got a good deal in my mind. They wouldn't budge though, even when I asked if they'd throw in a set of bonnet stripes installed for the same offer. So I think each dealer has a set amount that they're willing to discount on them and it's unlikely you're going to get them to move any bit below that. But of course, it's always worth a try. You'd better start shopping though because you're not going to be able to retrofit a lot of things that I personally wished I could have gotten, such as comfort access and visual boost with mini connected. Since you're limited to the final few dealer optioned cars, whatever they've got on the lot can be pretty bare bones. (I chose mine because it was the only one on the lot that didn't have the standard black leatherette and silver trim - mines got polar beige leather with matching accents with piano black trim and chrome line interior, but sadly just the base stereo with no screen)
It amazes me how two dealerships can be so different in their pricing strategies on leftover vehicles. I would think that at this point, Mini corporate is pushing dealers to get rid of their 2013 inventory. My thought is that these leftovers are still on the lot for a reason. The cars I am choosing between do not have the best option packages, so I am making sacrifices in my purchase. Of course, I am happy to make the sacrifices because, at the end of the day, all I really care about is a manual JCW. One dealer says MSRP - $3,100, the other says MSRP - $1,000. Huge difference. We'll see if I can close the deal today...
I've been looking for a 2014 for my wife, but she recently noticed the dealer still has a 2013 Cooper S with a MSRP of $31,500 for about $7,000.00 off. Of course that was for June and they now say that's not still going on. We will see though when we get into negotiations.
I looked up a 2013 Cooper S with these options on KBB, just to see how current resale would be. I put in that the car would have 1k miles on it and the private party value is only about $22k. So if I can get it for $22-23k I'll go for it.
