anyone made 1/4 mile passes?

Just bought my wife a 2012 S Convertible thats bone stock. Just about everything she has ever owned I have tracked and/or modded alittle. Im sure this one will be no different.

Curious as too what mods are worth doing and what aren't. I see the JB+ looks to be a killer bang for the buck. And a upgraded intercooler looks like a good investment. What about things such as charge tubes?

Seems like the OPEN air intakes under the hood have mixed reviews. Havent seen much about the AEM which looks pretty cool. Alot of people claim the stock works really well with a K&N or equal filter.

Just getting a feel for the MINI life!

Not bad times, especially considering the not so great reaction times.

Not sure why one would bother. I love my Mini but they are not fast cars. If one wanted to qtr mile race there are so many better options but guess that's just my take on it. I find the mini more fun than my Mustang get to drive although in comparison it's insanely slow but still more of a joy to drive.

I think we all realize that the majority of MINIs are not beasts in the 1/4 mile, but it still fun to do.

It's true molding is a fun hobby. I just choose to do some surface stuff to mine. Wheels, tires, lowered , exhaust and a killer audio system as the factory system is utter poop. Might be tempted next go around to get a job and have some speed mods since the 2.0l is a better base.

I have a Helix intercooler, forge hot side boost tube, K&N panel filter(still hear the BOV very good), FJCW exhaust, and just bought a Evolve catless DP(putting it on tomorrow morning). With the JB+ it will be okay, but I will be moving to the ECU tune once the guy that wants to buy my JB+ & CAN tool sends me the money next week or so.

Those mods will help increase power, but if I were you get an ECU tune eventually.

Some other little crap I am sure I misses, but that is the major power adder's.

#32 in the first time slip is my mustang! and as you see its times are not that much better than the MINI, its a 2007 GT with a CAI and a Tune, it is an Automatic.

The best time we have ever got out of it is 14 flat. Since that time slip it has got a new tune, the 2nd cats removed and an open exhaust, it will be getting 4:10 gears, the same model with basically the same setup that a friend has run 13.4. But basically you are saying that MINIs are not fast, thats crap, I will agree they are not 1/4 mile cars, but I have run many other cars, and in a roll-on, there has not been much that can get away from me.

Not sure what that guy did to his GT..mine was midly modded: Kook Headers/Mac Prochamber/Corsa cat back/ 3.93 gears/ Koni STR shocks/struts, Eibach Pro's/CAI/Tuner and I could consistently pull mid 12's.
Which is not fast but I had nothing but bolt on's. Btw the Auto's are faster than the sticks in those cars, mine shifted so hard and fast if I was careful it would spin me out in 2nd. I've done pass's in my buddys car and its under 8sec's in the qtr so fast is realative

My point was there are many cars faster like a new Stang GT that starts at 420bhp , through a SC or Turbo and some mild mods and your up in the 700bhp range and running 10-11 sec qtr's.

Love Mini's and love mine but its not fast...its fun as hell though. I smile every time I hop in the driver seat and does that while averaging 36mpg. I am over fast lol had plenty of those.

The mini was bought for my wife which Im excited for because its a fun little car vs the SUV/Sedans she has had in the past. This is her first sports car. I drove my first mini saturday. Both man and auto. I thought {not in a mean way} but this is like a pissed off shift kart!! Handles/stops and is quick!! And like most car guys I will be modded.

Im a straight line guy and have always run domestics. Im not a brand loyal guy and im not a import hater. My favorite car is CJ's owner of PM's supra and who doesnt love the UGR lambos or AMS gtr's.

Im just wonder were the car sits if I have hondas or other cars rolling up on me. Plus 1/4 mile is fun!!

Well that one I can not answer as I have the Auto and I am limited to a lower redline, so what I end up doing it, setting the tranmission to manual mode and bouncing off the redline, that forces the computer to only shift at the limit everytime.

But from the cars I have seen on the dyno and I saw 13 in one day, these cars pull all the way to redline, so I would guess, you should shift 300 to 500 rpm's before the rev limiter.
