New to Me R53
Wanted to post an introduction thread and thank the board for all the information that the board has provided in getting my mini feet wet. lots of great info on this site, and looks like a great community.
Replaced a 2012 VW Jetta TDI wagon to get this - more fun, wasnt really getting the benefit of being in a diesel (13 miles door to door commute).
the car: 2006 r53, 30k miles, picked it up Monday May 12, 2014. Installed options - hood stripes, HK stereo, HID headlights, LSD, manual transmission, non sunroof car.
since I got it - Audiovox Mediabridge, debadged, added some stickers, oil change, trans fluid flush, brake fluid flush, change air filter, change cabin filter, new spark plugs and wires, M7 strut bar, cabrio front braces
some photos

Welcome! Grats on the great find!
Many say I'm clairvoyant & this is what I see you'll be tackling sooner or later:
-Powerflex bushes, ball joints, PS fluid, PS hose clamps in 1 take
-ATI Super Damper. Sad reality is the eventual death of the stock 1.
-Canton or RMW expansion tank w/ real cap
-Dave F. CAI & some great value exhaust like Scorpion
-Coilovers, camber plates, adjustable rear control arms
-Reduced SC pulley
Warning:
Resistance to moddin' is a discipline very few are born with.
It's extremely addictive.
Better hold tight coz you'll be headed down that very slippery slope!
......Tell me later about my perceived clairvoyance!:D

The pulley is a great mod with no effects to the car and makes it come alive.

Is the pulley mod hard to do? Just picked up my car as well from my friends 60 year old father who had the pulley and new belt but damn everything is so tight lol
Check this article on how to do it.

Not hard but just make sure that you use the proper pulley puller otherwise you'll have a problem. Check this article on how to do it. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...ey_Install.htm
