How many minutes does turbo cooler stay on?

Took delivery of our 2014 Countryman S automatic a few weeks ago. I noticed the turbo cooler fan (I'm guessing that's what the noise is) stays on for about 10 minutes after I shut the car off. Is 10 minutes normal? Or does the length of time it stays on vary depending on how "hot" the car is/how hard it was driven?

Chances are it's the aux water pump. It circulates water in the head and turbo to help cool it down safely.

Runs for 5-10 min. A low pitched whine.

That or you are rearing the main fan, which will run after the car has been shut off.. That will run until coolant temps drop to about 190deg F.

Whats the point, its the oil that needs to circulate during cool down!

Well, true, however the oil gets less coking due to the aux pump since it cools the turbo faster and helps control hot soak.

I always let my oil temps fall to 190 before shutdown..

I let mine idle for a few minutes before shutting off.

Just curious how you are monitoring your oil temps?

And to get back on-topic - I've noticed with my 2014 that the aux water pump will often switch on a few moments after switching off the ignition, even after having driven the car gently. Is this normal?

I use a ScanGauge - it's been coded for Mini CAN. It's a much needed add on IMHO since our cars don't have any real gauges..

Yes, I'm thinking of getting a ScanGauge myself. With MINI coding it adds coolant temp, oil temp, engine temp, and automatic transmission temp, right? By the way, what exactly is "engine temp" measuring?

When u say it's been coded for the Mini CAN..... What did you have to do to get it coded? I am not very familiar with ScanGauges.....

Have a look here: http://www.scangauge.com/support/x-gauge/mini/

The ones sold by Way already come with the required coding: http://www.waymotorworks.com/scangauge-ii.html

Engine temp is the same as coolant temp - its the same numbers.

The only "thing" that does not seem to work is the high pressure fuel pump reading.. (FPR..).. For the price, it can't be beat. I added a Craven speed mount to mine, its quite nice, but a little obscured by the wheel the way I sit in the car. I can clearly see Water and Oil temp at all times, which are the only two I really worry about..

I wish I could do a pressure gauge without having to go with a full blown setup like I've done on other cars (electric sender units..). I may do it once it falls out of warty.
