Will a Resonator Delete void a CPO warranty?

Hey guys really hope this is in the right place. First time poster just looking for a little help. I tried searching for this and only found reviews of the resonator but not anything regarding it voiding the warranty. Just recently went out and bought a used 2010 R56 MCS that was given the CPO warranty. I wanted to do some cheap initial mods while I'm still under the protection of the warranty and the resonator delete videos on YouTube are temping.

My question is does anyone have any experience with these modifications and a CPO warranty and can give me some feedback? Or at the very least link me to a thread that discusses warranty safe modifications. I have a lost list of mods to do once the warrantys up but I figured I would be responsible and wait it out.

There is no such thing as a 100% warranty-safe modification.

In theory, the dealer would have to proof that your mod has resulted in a given failure that they are now refusing to warranty repair. For example, there is no reasonable way, and most dealers would never attempt to to argue that an airflow resonator delete would precipitate a demise of oil chain pensioner (common problem), suspension challenges (BTDT), or headlight failure (BTDT). An errant check-engine light is getting warmer. A bunch of CE lights with no obvious hardware failures post an aftermarket DME re-flash is pretty much asking for it.

Then there is the question of how easy would it be to detect the mod. Air intake plumbing changes are very easy to spot. DME code re-flash is not.

In practice, dealer's logic may be faulty or whimsical, but it would take a court order to trump it.

Bottom line:
1). Read the fine print of the warranty you bought
2). If you can't self-insure equipment failure in case of coverage denial - don't mod the car until warranty runs out!

a dealer cannot just void your warranty because of a modification...

the dealer has to prove the modification caused the problem.

say if i install coilovers, and my turbo blows....the dealer is going to have a hard time saying the coilover caused my turbo to blow.....

but if i install a larger turbo, and i blow my motor because of it, the dealer can refuse to do repar work on my motor because i caused the issue by putting the turbo on.

I have CPO. Both cats deleted, resonator deleted and stock otherwise exhaust.

Took it in with stage 2 map on.

Drove out like a boss the next day with my new valve cover and water pump that were covered.
