Question for the exhaust guru's

I know a lot of guys pull the 2nd cat and the resonator off, has anyone pulled just the resonator and not the second cat with the stock muffler?

That basically the JCW exhaust, since the mufflers are the same and all it does is delete the resonator.

I didn't know that...

What I'm trying to achieve is more exhaust sound than stock but less than a full 2nd cat and resonator delete without torque loss. So do you think removing just the resonator would achieve that?

Thanks...

Yup! People have eliminated the resonator with increased popping and burble from the exhaust. Then get some nice tips to weld on and call it a day.

yeah im doing that too, was going to cut the 2nd cat off but will get problems here in NC,
if we do just do a resonator delete, is it better to just run a straight pipe or use a magnaflow resonator?

Removed the resonator and not the 2nd cat, disappointing results.

The sound level is unchanged, the deepness in the exhaust note is gone.

I installed the JCW exhaust and the Akrapovic down pipe WITHOUT removing the 2nd cat. Sounds decent but I want more. I will be removing the 2nd cat next week.

Maybe I should have removed the 2nd cat and not the resonator?
Went back and removed the 2nd cat also, sounds good and not noisy at all. Also did a local emissions check and pass with flying colors.

The R61S seems much quitter than a 2nd cat and resonator removal then on the R56S, hope I don't have a loss of torque?

Can you guys direct me to where my resonator might be for my 2014 Countryman? I'd like to remove it and install some bigger tips. Thanks.

Where did you purchase the Akrapovic down pipe from?
