Has Anyone Else Pulled out the Shift **** While Driving?

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else. I'm pretty used to the shift ***** that are "screwed" on, but for the MINI it seems like something that you can just pull up and out with enough force... Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Obviously I'm tugging too hard but it happens a lot when I autocross and shift into 2nd gear

I have seen people do it before. You guys must really pull up on the shifter. I shift hard and never had the issue, and my **** comes off pretty easily...

It kept happening to me when I first got the car. I changed over to a JCW shift **** and that one never popped off accidentally.

Eventually I modified the shifter and installed a shift **** with set screws which works great for me, but you might want to consider a JCW or simply not pulling while shifting.

I also have the JCW ****, maybe that's the key!

It feels like it grips the shifter a little tighter.

I bought mine used on here. Just keep an eye on the marketplace, they pop up every so often...

I had a heck of a time getting my **** to come off, and I was doing it on purpose! If I hadn't been cautioned in advance I would probably have take out the sunroof. I removed it and the boot and installed a Whalen **** and a Craven shift well cover. Last weekend at MOTD I had Helix install a Craven short shifter. If you only do one mod to your shifter, I would highly recommend the short shifter.

Yes I have a mile from the CarMax lot, I returned and they replaced it. It was quite dangerous!

I might buy this ****. I want to darken my interior a little, like the GP2 steering wheel with red stitching.

BMW (and Mini) shift ***** use a plain old friction mount. As such, they tend to get looser and looser if you remove and replace it a few times. I've seen it many times before on older BMWs.
