I continue to be amazed with the gas mileage on my 2012 MCS. I must confess that my average is 28 mpg, but I do DRIVE her!!! But every night on my drive home from work, I average over 45 mpg and decided to capture real time gas mileage....wondering how mine compares to others. Temperature was 54 degrees, on flat asphalt

Engine is the N18 with 6 speed manual.... I'm in 4th gear on my drives home.

Well i dont have an r56 but your definately beating me i do 20-25 mpg somtimes 16-18 if im on the gas alot but i mean i usualy am always on the gas because i drive more agressively if i really wanted i could get in the upper 30mpg range i have on long freeway trips got 36-40 mpg average. My cars also pullied and has an intake so it doesnt get as good mileage as a stock 1.6

 

Well I have the advantage of imperial gallons but 36/38mpg normally and 42 on a run but that is an auto MCS.
I've never managed to hit the advertised combined figure of 44.1 that's published for this model - even though I have tried!

 

I've gotten 41 on a tank. I have a 100mile round trip commute sea level to 3000ft. Usually mid 30's.

 

Recently been getting 36 mpg in our 09 MCS, up from 32.

 

I do believe that I have the sweet spot at 40mph, because I hit it all the time. It's so cool to get great mileage and not have to drive a Prius or something like that.

 

I'm averaging around 42 MPG. I do try to drive for economy, though. When I was trying hard, I managed a 51 MPG tank.

I have a 2009 Mini Cooper S and mostly do city driving with the occasional 'spurt' of speed. Even in the dead of winter I get about 30 mpg and it goes up to about 33 mpg in the summer. On the highway on trips I think I got about 38 last time I checked. This is by hand calculation, not by the OBC.

EDITED TO ADD: I have a 6 speed manual and always drive with the SPORT button on. :D

 

My mileage is like a roller coaster. Depends on the season. This winter I was as low as 20mpg on a tank. I work less than a mile from work, and we had a stretch there where our high temperatures were not over 0 degrees (that's Fahrenheit! for those that use Celsius) so that wasn't very surprising. Now during warmer weather I usually get lower to mid 30's due to my heavy foot. But, if its after a mod, expect that number to drop to 25mpg or so. I've been modding a bit in the last year so the years average is pretty low...

 

Where I live to drive in any direction across this county requires scaling hills from 200 - 800 ft above sea level. Bicyclists love to train in some parts because the hills are so steep. Out on the Eastern Shore or the Delaware beaches the topography is so flat that spending a week there can gain you 5 mpg average.

So our mileage can vary without even considering heavy right feet or air temp.

Only mod- AirVIP 2.5 intake kit.

Flat plains of Southeast Texas 91 octane non-ethanol fuel.
63 mph highway driving measured with GPS = 43 mpg.
75 mph highway driving measured with GPS = 39 mpg.
Around town driving = 34.5-36 mpg.

Hill Country Driving 93 octane non ethanol fuel
63 mph highway driving measured with GPS = 40 mpg
75 mph highway driving measured with GPS = 37 mpg
Around town driving = 34 mpg

 

Here is what I can usually get in my 2013 MCS:

Long highway drives - 40mpg
Around town - 32-36mpg
Highway with bike rack on hatch - 30-32mpg

This is all with 93 octane. I'm more than happy with it fuel mileage.

My calculated gas mileage in mostly rural driving last year was a little over 33 MPG (2013 MCS, manual transmission). It dropped down to about 29 over the past very cold winter but is back up over 30 at the moment. I'm happy!

 

real world unbiased mixed driving is at 34.62… 510 is a tank of 14.73 93 octane. calculation is based at the pump and not OBD. OBD states 37.X and at best was 41.X - clearly not accurate.

Mine is right around 35mpg.

I missed about the first year of ownership on my 2008 MCS, but since then I've achieved 32.168 mpg over the course of 352 fill-ups for 4,007 gallons. During the five years covered, I've spent $13,574 on gas. My lowest mpg was 26.647 and my highest mpg was 39.645.

 

wow. my R53 sounds like a pig compared with you guys. avg around 23mpg combined city / hwy... if i keep it at 70 i can squeeze 30, maybe 33 mpg avg.

seems like its either getting worse the more miles i put on the car, or its the way im driving recently, but i seem to rarely get over 25 mpg avg out of this thing anymore, which puts me just at or slightly over 300 miles per 13 gal tank.

When I was driving a lot for work (2500 miles per month) I was averaging about 35-37mpg.

Now I get about 31-32mpg with a lot more local and city driving. Having said that, I DRIVE my car.

 

Slow down more and your MPG will go up. And you'd be surprised at how few people actually do try to push you off the road or shoot at your car when you drive the speed limit...


Check your tire pressures. Those can have a surprising effect on fuel economy. Not to mention that the tires tend to wear better when not underinflated. Cold weather and any precipitation will also hurt your fuel economy.


BTW, I also drive my car. But I drive the car my way. (And it's fun not having to slow down--at all--for corners.)
