I recently noticed that my windshield washers stopped spraying onto the glass. After replacing everything except the reservoir and level sensor I finally tried one more thing. I drained the fluid and put in fresh fluid. That did the trick. The reason I thought of that is because I had diluted the previous gallon with water (50/50). It evidently does not work when diluted.

 

What Washer Fluid were you using?? I make my own...303 Windshield Washer Tablets and Distilled Water, works great and it's pretty inexpensive.

 

I mix 2 bottles of 70% isopropyl alcohol and water...

 

VW fluid(German ones, not the USA ones) and distilled water works for me, it cleans well even in very dilute form and it gives a nice lemon smell.

 

Unless it was FROZEN....should have worked fine....pump and the car DOES NOT CARE what you spray....

 

your making a correlation where one simply does not exist. its a fluid pump, and i promise it doesn't care what you actually put in the bucket.

 

It shows an innate ability to draw a straight line from an unwarranted assumption to a forgone conclusion. It also gave me an idea for setting up a windscreen washer system in the liquor cabinet. What a way to pump a dram of scotch with just the flick of a lever.

 

Not everyone is tech or mechanical savvy, so I wasn't passing any ill judgement.

Back in the late 1960's I met a guy that cleaned out his windshield washer reservoir and routed his washer line under the dash of his car. He would fill the reservoir with Bourbon and keep a small ice chest full of ice and a bottle of 7/UP in the car and make Bourbon/Sevens with his contraption. If he got pulled over all he had in the car was ice and 7/UP. I'm not advocating drinking and driving - just pointing out that I saw this done forty-five years ago.

Dang. Didn't know I would get slammed for being a mechanical dork (which, by the way, I am not). I was using the standard O'Reilly's fluid that I reduced 50/50 with water. Just to rehash, I replaced EVERYTHING and it did not correct the issue until I put the same fluid back in that WASN'T diluted.
