Lease is up - 2013 leftover or order 2014?

Not sure where best to post this question...

My 2011 hardtop lease is up in May after 3 quick years. I was planning on ordering a 2014 - silly me I didn't realize what changes had taken place and a whole new MINI is out this year.

So just looking online at the local dealers yesterday there are a few 2013 hardtops left that might work. Or I can order a 2014 and likely get it in time.

I'm not sure whether they are going to be offering much off the sticker price on the 2013s - other than some lease deals that expire at the end of March there might not be a big incentive to get a 2013.

So considering possibly having to deal with issues with first year of a car if I order a 2014 and maybe not loving the front end as much as the older model -- it seems the 2014 would be the same price (based on miniusa configurator).

If I'm leasing getting a 2013 vs 2014 isn't a big deal as far as it being an older version I don't think. But I'm just struggling over whether it makes sense to "settle" for a 2013 off the lot or order exactly the options I'd want and get a 2014 if the price is pretty much the same.

Anyway, sorry to ramble but am I missing something - is this a no-brainer that I should order 2014? Or is 2013 a good option if I'm really happy with that styling and not into having the newest thing out there.

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

But it's ugly, kill it with fire. I had the same conundrum, and I ended up purchasing a 2013. Totally ahoy with the decision. I simply wouldn't buy Mini if it was a 2014 or bust. My cash would go elsewhere.

Being the 2014 is FATTER it needs more motor. If the 2.0 goes in the countryman now maybe that will be an option as I drove it and the 1.6 S seems like a justa cooper for power.

Wish they kept the MINI mini.

Thanks for the feedback.
I feel like the engine in the 2011 has been fine for my purposes so that wouldn't be a reason for me to get a 2014. Now if the ride was smoother by a significant amount that might be - I do feel I could do without some of the jarring, teeth rattling, etc.

I'll at least look at the 2013s they have left. I wonder if they're going to knock much off the MSRP or try to say they have limited supply and people still want them so they're not budging.

If you BUY the 2013 you will have the most desirable MINI of that model since it was/is the last year and all of the bugs will be ironed out.

Yes, that's what I'm thinking, bug-free plus I like the design better.

Any thoughts on whether I can expect anything off MSRP? Or anything much? I guess there are too many variables location to location and dealer to dealer to say but in general should they be trying to get rid of them or would you think enough people want the 2013 still that they can charge full MSRP?

You certainly can expect a reasonable discount. Can't help you with adjustments for your area, but in a major market (Chicago) a spice orange MCS with the panorama roof, Harmon Kardon, piano black, heated seats, no climate control, navi or convenience package was 26,500 out the door in 06-2013. I was thinking about waiting, but once I saw the spy photos I thought to myself "good luck fixing that to look good." Seems they forgot their namesake

You could also buy out your existing car and save thousands in the long run.
