for me the answer is easy

I find 1 on the shelf at the store - but I need to look around for it. It is the ONE time I'll go into WallyWorld, otherwise I avoid the place.

and can't remember ever seeing 3000

is there a cost difference?

Don't know where you are located.

I think the Mobile 1 3000 is here in different versions OP is talking about ?: Don't remember seeing it here in the US.

Look for meeting BMW LL 01 and ACEA A3/B3 & API Service SL/CF .

The Mobile 1 0W40 we carry is the one marked European Car formula.

Bet "3000" is a conventional oil or a blend...so NO!!
MOBIL 1....
THE "EURO" version is the ONE that meets bmw specs....

P.S.
Just do you understand...
BMW/mini reccomends different oils specs for some parts of the world...
Namely North America and locations where fuel has a ethanol component.... It makes more moisture when burnt....result in the need for a oil formulated differently...Thst is why euro oils for the new spec says they are ok for diseal motors...but acpoor choice for gasoline motors that can dilute oils with moisture more easily.....

Both meet BMW LL spec, and the 3000 appears to also cater to diesel products. A quick seach on BITOG shows that it is a lower tier oil compared to the 1.

Personally I'll stick to using Mobil 1 0w-40 euro car formula which is only $25 for a 5 qt. jug (if you can find it) at your local Wally World.

I don't think the OP was looking for yet another "post your favorite oil" threads.

after reading some white paper reports I'd only use Mobil 1 in my lawnmower. They made some changes over the last few years and quaker state Q is far better than it. I just buy the MINI oil at local dealership for $7 a quart.
