What did you guys do with your 15% pulleys, Are they not reusable? Meaning can you not sell them?

Given the rusted-on condition of my MiniMania pulley, some damage did occur to the hub upon removal. ooooh, that reminds me, people wanted pics of the old belt that was shredding....I'll go find it.

Well, I don't have a lot of funds for mods. So a used pulley may fit into my budget.

A free used pulley would fit even better...

Bisch,

nice 3rd pic. You are quite an artist.
It is good to know how it ages.

Bisch,

How many miles did you have on that pulley belt? Was it the stock size OEM or a smaller belt from NAPA?

I think you can replace the smaller belt every 25,000 miles on a regular basis.

Any pulley made of steel can rust if the finish is compromised.

The real cost in a reduced pulley is the installation, not the part. 16months ago they went for $200. Now Helix sells them for between $80-120 - it doesn't get cheaper than that. I have the original heat-on hub type so my 15% will only fit a MINI with the hub. And if you already had the hub, all real work was already done. Seriously though, I don't know why you'd want someone's USED pulley when for basically peanuts in the mod world you can buy a new one. I mean we are talking about an important peice of the drivetrain here. Something that could invalidate your engine warranty. I wouldn't mess with a second-hand anything!

Most people that are switching from a 15% to 19% probably do not have many miles on the 15% pulley, more then likely less then 10,000. If you can pick one of these up for $50 then the install is $250 (local shop) then total cost would be $300.

Thats a $100 is savings. Now who wouldn't mind saving a 100 bucks. Now I wouldn't want to buy a rusted up pulley but a slightly used one is good shape would be another story.

I said I was short on mod funds not that I never had a mod fund. You see were my fund has gone!

The belt was a "smaller" size NAPA. There were only 9,XXX miles on it.
