Ultra High Perf SUMMER only Bologna

well I have my "summer only" conti DW's on and today I drove to work in 18F
temps with a good 1/2 of snow on the ground.

A little slick but nothing that would make me say they are summer only tires.

(Cheer up) You're in Texas, it won't stay cold for very long. As long as you drive appropriately the cold temperatures and light snow won't keep you from work.

Tomorrow's forecast

Sat
Feb 8
High 56°
Low 34°
Partly Cloudy

I said the same thing when I had a 2001 Jetta VR6 with upgraded sport wheels and summer tires that only added $150 to the sticker price of that car.

Driving around normally isn't too bad. But wait til you need to stop short or swerve to avoid something in the road with your rock hard frozen summer tires. Then you will take back what you wrote in your post.

Just because you didn't die doesn't mean it isn't a bad idea.

You can get lucky....even playing Russian roulette... Unless you play with a semiautomatic (when playing Russian roulette with a gun) that is.....
But luck does run out....thr shame is if you play Russian roulette with a gun, only you die....play it with a car...an innocent person crossing the street in front of you may die......so think twice about using summer tires in the winter.....please...

Do you have the Ultra High Performance All-season?

Or do you have the Max Performance Summer?

BIG difference between the two.

And speaking from experience, you do not want to push your luck with UHP Summer tires on sub-freezing or ice/snow covered roads. I'm not saying you need winter tread in the 2nd biggest state, just use caution and know what your riding on and don't push your luck by pushing your car. You will loose. I see it every single winter in Alaska.

Conti DW is a Max Summer tire.

Conti DWS is the UHP All Season tire.

I think the OP has the DW.

In the cold or snow if you can keep speeds down, you don't have to pray as much to slow down or control your car. However it's usually the other guy going too fast with a heavy SUV or truck that may be the problem.
