R50/53 How long between production and delivery?
For all of you lucky blokes who have ordered and received your MINI already: How long did it take for your baby to arrive at the dealer, once it had been built.
My mcS is scheduled for a 11/8 production date, and the best my dealer can tell me is my MINI will arrive in Chicago "sometime in December." I even E-mailed the question to the Owner's Lounge, and they told me they haven't shipped enough cars to be able to estimate travel time.
Can anyone tell me if the wait is closer to 3 weeks, or is it more like 6? I'm anxiously awaiting your response

My Mini had a production date of 9/20, and I picked it up 10/26. It was ready for pickup on the 23rd, and that's even after they had a tinting guy come and do the windows.
To qualify that, my dealer is in NJ (close to the east coas port of entry)

Hey Soopa! Bet yo Coopa is smoove as buttah...
My Mini is also slated for an 11/8 production date and when I called MiniUSA they told me that the car can be STARTED anytime within that production week.
He (Shawn) also told me that it takes about 5 days to build/finish/inspect afterwhich it's sent to the docks for shipment. I don't know how long that takes (I'm sure someone here can) but once it's aboard the travel time is 10-12 days.
Next they'll go to inspection and make sure no one drove a forklift through the door, broke anything, etc. That can take anywhere from 1 day to 6 weeks depending on the damage. But don't worry, it's usually about a week.
Then it's on a truck for 3 days to Chicago.
I bought mine in Chicago too. Patrick Mini. Maybe I'll see you there!
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the detailed info, Jim.
I bought mine at Patrick too, and with the same build date, we very well might run into each other at delivery! Look for the mcS optioned out just like yours, but Indi Blue/White top and wheels.
BTW- Are you planning to get involved in Chicago area autoX?

Fortunately for you, you're on the East coast. I'm in Cali. and my ship left Georgia yesterday and won't be in Cali. until 11/11. My car got on the boat on 10/15. We left-coasters unfortunately have about a month longer to wait.
Longer wait for us in Denver. Our MINI's have to take the trip to Calif. and then get trucked or rail to Denver. I was told 6-8 weeks from production until delivery. Mine too is scheduled for next week (11/8). Looks like a long wait until arrival. But can't wait wait, could be a great Christmas present.

Scoopa...my IB/IB MCS was slated for 9/27, really got pulled for production on 9/13, finished on 9/20 but waited...finally got on a boat on 10/4...at my dealer last Saturday, could've probably picked it up monday or tuesday but am having the aero kit and fender skirts painted, so if nothing else happens...I will be picking her up on Saturday 11/2...so mine took about 6 weeks really from being built to being able to pick up..hope that helps...d.
I'm a 11/8 production date with delivery to Chicago also! Waiting is painful. To top it off I have to drive from South Bend, IN to pick up at Bill Jacobs MINI. I am sure the return trip to South Bend will take MUCH LONGER.
On a related note - I see that many of you know the name of the vessel that your Mini is immigrating on. Where do you obtain this info? My MCS is enroute, and I'd love to be abel to track it's progress. Please don't send me to my dealer for this info (Hank Aaron Mini) they don't return telephone calls. (In fact when my Mini finally arrives, I think I'm expected to just slide the money under their back door.)
Prod date 9/22, picked up on 10/23, annihalted 10/24... TBD on turn around on fixing over $12K worth of damage, probably MUCH longer. THIS F'N SUCKS, I'M STUCK DRIVING A HUNK OF **** TAURUS FOR GOD KNOW HOW LONG!!!

>>12K and they didn't Total it? Hmmmmm.

FYI jayoung - repairs exceeding 70% of book value is usually the the insurance cutoff for "totalling" a car.
