are my rotors coated or not?

i know this is hard to tell from the picture but its the only one i got.

and what its the psi diffrence between the the non-coated and coated? 1psi maybe? if so this may be the reason why i see a psi of two less than some other people.

ALL MINI M45 blowers had coated rotors. The difference is the early 2002-2004 cars had the light grey coating. Then the 05-06 cars had the dark grey almost black coating. The 05+ is suppose to be better as it is suppose to make the tolerance tighter helping make a touch more boost. But in reality we see the later coating come off more than the earlier coating. The boost difference is so small it can't really be measured.

And in your 1st pic there you have the earlier coating.

Worn out blower can have low boost, but that's really rare. But if you have a rebuilt blower we've seen low boost from several rebuilders that don't do it correctly.

i got the rebuild from you back in the fall. im running a 17% by you guys as well. i can see high 15 to 16.5 but nothing past that no matter the temp... my friends have the same mods as me and they are seeing 17.5 on a warm day but now with winter they see 18 even 19.5 psi. guess im trying to figure out why im lacking here.

edit: i am using a ultragauge, but one friend is using the torque app and the same obd port and another friend is useing a actual boost guage.

three different measurements, with 3 different results. OBD2 comp will give a value, the torque app i know has different ways of measuring and also have have different zero's set, and the actual boost gauge, depending on the quality will give the most accurate result

One tip...
Boost is not measuring sc output....
But how hard/easy the air is flowing....
If a car has a restrictive exhaust... Melted cat, etc, it will read higher boost...but make less power.
So if you run anything different...say a catback, a header..... You will read less boost. Basic stuff.

So to sum it up...
Low boost can mean low sc output....
BUT it can mean efficient flow of air through a motor...
Due to this...
Boost is not really comparable to different cars with different mods....
But rather one car...at different times...
Say 18 psi peak...then a SUDDEN change indicating an issue.... Or slow drop..wear.
