Looking at buying an 07 S with "low compression" on one cylinder says the owner (private dealer). He said his engine shop said it would need a head reman and replace and would be about $1200. The car is pretty cheap and is a one owner car with 98k so it seems like a good deal but I just wanted to see if anyone knew roughly what a reman on one of these heads would cost and if they've ever experienced this low compression on one cylinder. Thanks.

 

That seems about right for a head. The kicker is going to be the labor to button everything back up. I would not bother unless they have all the paperwork for repairs that are common for the R56 proving everything that is trouble on the R56 has been addressed.

-auxiliary water pump
-turbo oil lines

Also, if they don't have proof that they were changing the oil at least every 10K from the dealer, definitely say "no".
