So I'm planning to replace my water pump (07 base cooper) and believe special tool 11 6 210 would make it allot easier. It allows you to take the pressure of the drive belt and put it in to service position. Anyone have a source or substitute?

 

It's been quite a while since I did my pump replacement and I no longer have my car to go out and look at...but as I recall, taking tension off of the belt just involved using a wrench on the pivot point of the tensioner to rotate it and then sticking something like a screwdriver or Allen wrench in the stop to keep it in the service position. No special tool was needed.

 

Will a simple hex socket fit this tensioner?
